and this is my teeny weeny update, i wasent sure ont he last owners welding skils so i got a knot brush in the grinder and got rid of the INCH thick filler covering the seams! ive only done the rear offside as it was too thick to carry on i didnt want to be breathing in to much of that C**p!
my predictions were correct... sections were missing weld and it had been hammered in waaaaay to far! so i knocked it out a tad where it was needed and also sprayed it all to give it abit of protection before its paint.

also got rid of more shone chip and underseal form INSIDE the whole fornt end, so thats all removed and painted up.

What i would do is get some thinner strips of steel and weld it over the bits all the way round curved to the body shape then grind down the welds and skim over with a little bit of filler or if you can get i looking good with just metal leave it as that.

Thats what i would do, cant see any other option really instead or using the worlds suply of filler to cover it back up

Difficult situation. I had a similar conundrum when I replaced the rear panel and one side. When I finished (and I'd done an okay job), I looked at it and thought "Well, it's okay but what about subsequent owners?" so I sold the car as parts to someone who only wanted the registration.

The welding doesn't inspire confidence, as I think you're aware.

What about re-deseaming it? Similar to Mighty Mini Jack's advice, but put the steel on the back of the seam? I'd even drill holes along the edge of the panel to button weld it as well as seam welding. I'm also unhappy with the roof. It's very much an unknown quantity as it is. Perhaps the safest thing to do would be get someone who's experienced in vehicle structure to check it out.

hahaha cheers dude, but with the amount of power i want and as i want the racer look i think this will be some what changed... lol >_< but just to add ive nocked out the welds some more and i can happily say they only require a small skim of filler now :w00t: WOOP! WOOP!

Thats gavin wakely's mini, he's a member on here. Its not spaceframed, its got a custom front subframe, and a custom rear beam axle.
