obviously that's a finger in the air, but over the few years I've been doing the 1/4 mile, various things have improved it... That was the first year I broke the 16 second barrier with the 1330...

ok the engine had had a few *cough* tweaks since the previous year, but I knocked over a second off my time... and one of the major change was the flywheel... the cam changed from a 286 to 290, and the CR was upped a tad but everything else was pretty much the same...

In 2004, it was running mid 17's, 2005 (above) ran 16.4 on stock 145x12 tyres, 2006 (same engine no mods) running 165x10 A032r's, 16.2 so from 2004 to 2006, tyres, cam, upped CR and flywheel had nocked the best part of 1.5 secs of the 1/4.

ooh just thought... yes there was a change from 2005/6, In 2005 had to give up on the sunday as the clutch was slipping going into 3rd, change to an orange and race plate for 2006.

The Flywheel AND backplate together weighs a total of 3.9 kilos in my...er sheepo's mini.

Hence why it really does spin up like a motorbike.

3.9kg for both!!! what flywheel/backplate have you got? mines an ultralite MED which is the lightest they do. Surely the idle is a problem with such little weight.

don't know how much mine weighs, but it's a BMC rally competition forged steel lightened from factory flywheel adn backplate from the '60's! Is this rare/really good? dunno how much it weighs though,. didn't know a flywheel could change sooo much!

theres no flywheel left!!! surely there has to be some point where you loose any advantage of a lightened setup by going too light? Are you not going to kill off any torque?

I thought it was a bit iffy machineing a standard one down due to it being of different meterials, doesnt it seriously reduce the strength of it?
