Well it's in good Mr Viazards book.

It's one of them "you want this casting" jobbies. I think (have to give the book another read.

Plan on somthing like that. Going to plan the flywheel on a deviding head then check it with a DTI. Machine a lip on the inside (clutch face side) so I can put in in a lath and it be.....fairly true. Plonk it in a lathe. Spin it slow and clean it with some wire wool or 1000 grit paper. Then DTI on the clean surface, check it's true. Then machine the face down.

Which Vizard book do you want?

Tuning The A-Series Engine (avalibe from amazon) covers; block, heads, cams, rockers, carbs, cranks BUT NOT gearboxes. ... .. not too sure on flywheels either.

How To Modify Your Mini (got mine from ebay) features ALL aspects of mini tuning but not much on carbs. Covers tires, suspension, engines, flywheels, gearbox, body strength,

I'd suggest both if you can, if not then jus the A-Series engine book as its more indepth with engine mods than How to modify your mini.

The Flywheel AND backplate together weighs a total of 3.9 kilos in my...er sheepo's mini.

3.9kg for both!!! what flywheel/backplate have you got? mines an ultralite MED which is the lightest they do. Surely the idle is a problem with such little weight.
