heated manifold doesnt stop carb icing, the standard airbox does that by taking warm air from the exhaust system (see all those standard rover parts were there for a reason) the heated manifold is there to stop the fuel from sticking to the inlet manifold when the engine is running, this can cause an engine to run lean! only slightly but stil every litle counts, if rover heated the original manifold by attaching it to the exhaust manifold then heating it with water on an alloy manifold cant be a bad idea!

rover engineers were a lot smarter than they are given credit for with so so many things.
