Just a quick question about when your car was on the road. Was the subframe solid mounted and did you have rose jointed lower arms and tie-rods? Since the minus has solid mounted front subby and r/j arms and I'm just wondering how bad the vibrations and noise will be as a road car?

yes, everything was solid mounted and rose jointed.

To be honest i've never understood what the fuss was about, perhaps it was because everything was solid from day one I never felt any shakes or rattles or vibrations at all. Maybe you only find that when you gradually start to replace rubber components with solid on standard mini's.

My MR2 rattles more than the mini ever did.

Ah thats ok then. My old mine had solid subby, but fast road Minispares suspension bushes, I didn't find that too bad at all, just the characteristic mini bumpiness, obviously nothing to do with the subframe mountings or suspension bushes though!

Zcars are all solid mounted and they dont rattle or vibrate(Only when you have a rose joint on the way out which usually gets replaced immediately as it annoys the hell out of me anyway)

Cheers

How long are either of you finding the rose joints last on a normal road car? I've heard that they are a no no on road cars because they can wear out very quickly, but then I think its one of those things that has been exaggerated.

Put them in rubber boots and use good quality joints and they will last a long time. Mine were still tight as the day they were put on when I stripped the car.

Hello fella's....i'm still alive!

No progress on the mini for ages for various reasons, first I was working away in Kent for the last few months, so when I got home I couldn't be arsed to do any work. Then things got a bit crappy at work so I ended up leaving and started a new job just yesterday.

Oh, and I part ex'd my toyota 3 weeks ago for this...

Which has been keeping me occupied....

The mini will be finished eventually though. As it stands at the mo I'm about to fit the new inner wings and toe board and get the front end of the shell tied together once more as at the moment its all flapping in the wind a bit. Trouble is i've got no garage so its starting to get difficult finding time to work on it!

Still haven't had the engine dyno'd.....gave up on the operators after they kept putting me off week after week. No rush though, I need a car to strap it to yet.....

so far as rose joints are concerned, they use them on some current sports car suspension and they seem to last ok.

post edited due to my brother in law getting his terms wrong and making me look a divvy. humble appologies.
