get some s2 111r wheels in black on that and it will look pimp. red lotus' are one of a few cars that look aces with black wheels.

nice to see you back posting again dan. this is the best project on here. in my opinion.

Cheers - I think its the best project on here as well strangely enough

I prefer my Sport 160 wheels to be honest....only 300 160's ever made so its a bit rare.

And theres no rose joints on a standard elise, not on the suspension anyway.

The aluminium extrusion constructed chassis on the Elise is an absolute work of art, in someways engineered similar to the floor construction in the Midas Gold Convertible, which uses a GRP foam sandwich as opposed to an alloy honeycomb sandwich equalling an excellent lightweight stiff chassis. Not bad considering its a convertible!

Nice choice of car! A personal favourite of mine too.

Might be worth keeping an eye out for one of those special LR Discovery cylinder head kits though if it fits.

Kind regards,

David

They make them in worcester!!! woop woop, go worceseter! 'Hydroautomotive' - the same place, and same way they make the chassis for the new astons... i did work experience there  Did you know they 'glue' (or 'bond' if you like) The various aluminum parts together, its stronger and lighter than a weld :)

Good choice Dan, one of my best ever car related experiences was in an elise. Payed £15 to get driven round the rockingham infield track in one by one of their race boys - best £15 ever spent in my life! Only did 5 or so laps, i would have happily payed the same all day to go round again and again, but there was a queue

sorry dan, brother in law got his terms wrong and was talking about rosejoints on his elise s2. turns out he didnt mean rose joints at all. i have beaten him to within an inch of his life and will refrain from trying to look clever for the immediate future. :genius:

i know the k series has its critics but my brother in laws is ace. head gasket went but then that is par for the course. and getting it repaired involved some of the things that would be done to change the cam belt which was only a few thou away. so in the end it didnt cost that much. have been in a newer toyota engined version and it didnt quite seem the same. not that id turn one down.

The K series is a very good engine, its a shame it has the bad reputation it does.

there not as bad in the elise becuase the thermo stats ounted diffrently cuts down on hot spots i belive.

the l/rover conversion moves that stat into the top hose and has a stiffer bearing tray ti stop block flex

i had a quick play in one and love them so well balanced
