"£$%)*^)%*£*£)^_)$%$)(^__(£(£
HOLY %)*£)((($£)£$%*<<@>?}
You Lucky "£)$**&"")$%*"). That's a 1070cc Cooper S engine. One of the most sought after Mini engines in the world.
Although, hang on a minute. Your car is registered as a Cooper S isn't it? The Cooper S engine number has been transplanted onto a later block by whoever got your car through the import regs. The block in the photo is an A+ block which means it was made after 1979. Now it could be that it has had the internals of the 1070 put into it but there is no way to tell for sure without the head coming off.
So in short, no-one can tell you from that number what engine you have because it definitely doesn't relate to the engine in the car.
You really had me going for a minute there!

LOL... my mini is registered as an Austin Mini... not a Cooper S.... I don't know if the number was transplanted or if the internals were or if it's the real thing... I'm still learning all this... I DO know it goes like stink and sounds like a monster... and I love it..
It would be really cool if the engine was officially the Cooper S engine... It would be nice to know that I came up on something special..(the guy before me didn't know what he had either... so I couldn't ask him...
I'm taking my car to the shop on Friday (www.minicompracing.com) to have it sorted out and tuned (brakes, rough idle, fumes, a little smoke, non-working Smith Speedometer, etc)... I hope he'll let me know what's cooking under the bonnet
