use a big hammer to persuade the top lip of the door skin closer to the glass.... may help to get the glass out the way first though......

Hammer won't do anything, but I may be able to clamp up the inner/outer lip if I take the glass out. That said I think it will just spring back to where it is.

I Have some flashband which i used to cover the holes in the door behind the door car, works well... come and get it you skinny runt... actually its at gramps garage so you'd better come to mine and we'll pop round.

What's flashband?

Are you sure that ur windscreen is fitting properly had this a million times on rs-escy's where the widscreen was leaking in the drivers corner

water will move to the lowest point so it is hard to tell where it comes from and it could quite happily seep into ya door

Get the inner and outer finishers off, then fettle the outer edghe inwards.. it doesn't need to go far!!!!

Flash band is a Bitumous backed siver metallic sheet used in the building trade that i have used to soundproof my whole floorpan and bulkhead.. i have half a roll left i think, you just cut the shape and size you want, peel off the cover and stick it on.... use a hairdryer to heat it and it will stay stuck pretty much for ever... meaning you would have to cut/peel/scrape it off in the future but it will be absolutley water tight.

Sure as I don't have a dash top rail so I can see there is nothing leaking in through the windscreen...

But as it is bowed it naturally springs back to where it was (I tried this). Possibly with the glass out it might be possible but even then I think it will just spring back. It is not quite as simple as bending it as the door skin is under tension.

Sounds interesting...I think I'll just duct tape the holes so I can easily get to it in the future. My waxoyl fetish requires easy access :)

Hmm. I'm stuck....I cannot get the seals to work properly. So I tried sidestepping the problem and covering the holes in the doors....but when I put the door panels on water comes through the holes for the clips (I tried only using the minimum no. of clips).

So I seem to be effed, I think I either have to live with getting wet feet or get new doors, neither of which I am particularly happy with >_<

Is there anything else I can do?

i had a similar problem with the water coming into ther car from the bottom of the door cards. The problem was the tape used to cover the holes in the door (behind the door card) had started to peel off and were not sealing. So we took off ALL the tape covering all the holes and put in brand new tape, this fixed the problem! you should be able to see which hole/tape the water is coming from, so replace the tape.

The weather strip is not there to stop the water getting in , just to stop most .
mini doors (and every other door on every other car from ever other manufacturer ) are designed to be "wet" , the gaffer tape/plastic sheet is there to stop the water entering the car , the drain holes are there to let the water out of the door

K

Lets agree to dissagree :errr:

Nope, I replaced all the tape. One problem is that it comes through the holes for the doorcard clips...no amount of tape will cure that. Also, the tape I have doesn't seem to be the best at dealing with getting wet...although it looks pretty similar to the standard tape stuff.

Again, this is no good. It comes through the doors into the car before the water has made it's way to the bottom of the door.

I must say tho, water pisses into my doors. That is not supposed to happen or else there might as well be no weather strip. Not denying water will get in, but the problem here is new doorskins causing the strip not to seal as well as it should. I've never had this problem on any other mini I have owned (and none of them have had new doorskins fitted).

After a VERY bad strom yesterday my mini filled up with water only on one side!! the drivers side...

Anyways...i took all the carpets out and hang the *******ers up to dry out, then i tackled this problem, sponged and dried up the floor!! then got a watering can from the garden...i tipped the water over the drivers window, and it seemed to be running outside of the door and down to the bottom of the A panel...and some was going through the hinge holes!! i think i need new door seals, or i maybe wrong!!

Ive drilled two Very small holes in the bottom of my doors to drain the water out, just need to stop the water getting in to the mini...

Its a very frustrating situation...i was considering getting new carpets!! but thats on hold now...

Sometimes i do wonder!!! MINI???
