In terms of mechanics, the 998cc Engine is staying in, but a Metro Dizzy and Ignition, aswell as a stage one kit will be stuck on for better performance and reliablility.
The front as I've already said will be flipped or removable depending on how things go with time and money.
Internally keeping those fab seats, but will try and get it looking really good inside; my main goals are a centre console and dash all made to look in keeping with the interior. Other than that, I'll see how things go with it, and might fiddle with some things. I'm gonna try and grab hold of some metro door pockets to improve my sound experiance. Might make up some doorcards to fit with the new look. But I think I'll be experimenting with little things.
Hope that answers your question.

Defenately. Im thinking about putting my 'mayfair' back to looking like standard from the outside and inside.
There seems to be hardly any standard 80's minis left!

I can see a new tread starting, instead of modified, it's now Rewind (Said in a Bo selector, Crag David way) which involves taking a modded mini from the 80's and putting it back to standard. Lol

Sounds like a very good idea!! i think there should be new Forum section called 'Timewarp' or 'Rewind' for people who are putting their minis back to original factory spec.

Yes, it will be re-decal'd I do quite like the Designer decal. Hoping also to find an embroider so the red plasic "MAry Quant" Signatures on the seats can be embroidered as mine have both been worn away to nearly nothing from 19 years of use
Designer decals you can pick up at shows in their original script/font rather than the italic you have at the moment

Good luck with the seat sigs.... The Quant group are VERY tight with their allowances on things like that. I only know one person who's managed to get their 'ok' to get a set of seat sigs made up. Ruth with the famous 'Mary' the white Designer you always see on the concourses at Midlands shows... and she paid a LOT of moolah to get them made up from what she tells me. Myself, I've had bog-all luck with finding someone to do that for me, even "on the sly". *Sigh*
Maybe we Designer owners should petition Quant's company to allow us to get repro'd seat sigs? Trick is, would they take any notice of us.

Anyways I’ll let Awlred get back to the restoration of the Quant which is now slightly less rusty than it was at the start of the day

It turns out Graphicswizzards (sic) of Tamworth are doing a dead-cert copy of Designer body decals for £10 on the 'bay. Picked up a spare set myself as I need to get some rust sorted on one've Monty's rear quarters and can't fault them.

After the scuttle came out the wheel arch was cleaned up and welded in a bit of a rush, we also found that the metal beyond what you get with a filch panel under the scuttle wasn't worth its weight in scrap paper.
This week I remembered my camera, however forgot that I had remembered it until we'd already shifted it back into the unit so...
We pulled back the flitch panel we put on last week and gave it a healthy coat of primer, cleaned up the whole wheel arch and then gave it all a coat of primer, aswell as a few old welds as they'd been dripped on by the previous weeks weather thourgh a broker window and had developed a little bit of surface rust. We also had some fun re-remembering why you NEVER buy non-gen flich panels as we had to make a choice between the fresh air vent being in a weird place, or the door being mounted at a 20 degree offset between the top and bottoms, in the end we decided that it would be better without a gaping gap between the door and the sills.

Karl also tidied up where we'd cut the inner wing last time by folding it back around itself to the inside.

Karl also discovered much to his shock (I mean that litterally) that we had accidently nicked the rear wiring route when we chopped off the scuttle previously, thankfully we discovered this before it resulted in Karl having his hair permantently in the Einstien style and before the car decided to y'know...set fire to itself. so now I'm looking for a 9-wired molex to replace it, thinking maybe a couple of USB2.0 connectors from a computor, does anyone know if this would hold the volt/ampage that it used by the rear clusters? or does anyone have any other molex suggestions that would fit in the pillar?

After discovering that shocking (okay I'll stop with the puns) twist we disconnected the battery and were resigned to pushing and pulling the car in and out of the unit from now on >.< I'd wanted to keep it mobile for aslong as possible for obvious practicallity reasons.
So coming next for the project...I've got my hands on inner and outer sills and with my up-and-coming aquisition of a MIG Welder I should be able to progress, after some practice ofcourse...now where will I get scrap metal from? Oh MAaaaaaaaaaaaybe just maybe the front end thats sitting next to it
