have taken it for a spin and have found that the wheel rubs on the front of the offside arch. looking at the gap between arche and wheel on each side shows a definate difference in ride height on each side with the offside being the lower. What can cause this as all i have done on that side is change the callipers.

could this be the bearing? I wouldn't think it would be because for it to be that buggered i would definately know about it when driving... there is no knocks or grinds coming from that area when driving.

the car was up on axle stands for a very long time, could this have caused something to drop?

i don't want to get this kit and then find i have to fork out a load more...

help guys!

Right then...

I have bought some genuine hi los, kyb uprated gas shocks, and a metric cone compressor. I will sort out the height of the car first with the hi los then inspect the cones and everything else whilst doing that. Then the front geometry kit from minispares and the rear ones from minisport, with shims, is coming next to sort out my MAJOR alignment problems and then, if needed, buy the red spot cones... one at a time other a few months!!! 50 notes for a rubber donut. There must be some really big windows at the Minispares shop!! See you coming a mile away! lol

Does this sound the correct and most logical way to go? Or am I overlooking something?

Bearing in mind I don't know a lot about Mini's I had a similiar problem with the back of the buggy (Which is your font, front subframe at rear) The offside doughnut was 10mm lower once they had been taken out, I just put this down to them being 20 years old & most of the time I suspect the car had been driven round with only 1 person in. I got a new pair from P&L for about £76 'I think' they do some non-genuine ones for about £40 a pair. That'd be my starting point, or as you are doing replace with springs & Hi-Lo's

I can see what your thinking but to fit high-los to set the height the same each side isnt really sorting the problem, if i was you id get new cones too, and dont go for the non genuine ones, i know they are a lot cheaper but they are sh*t, they dont last very long at all.

also, if you do fit new cones later on you will have to strip it all out again to get to them.

The problem I have got is that I am well short of money! And I don't know if it is the cones until i get them out (he he). This way it is a temporary fix until funds become available to get new cones...

As my front nearside tyre is really annoying!!!

Also it means my ride will improve as the whole car is sitting level, rather than looking like a fat bloke is driving it! Well that could be the problem!!! lol

Got it in the back garden and have taken some phots...

they are not that good but it looks like the cones have flattened out!
