I drove up friday from Cornwall to stay just outside london it was good steady drive 60mph all was going well then we got near london the M25 and the sat nav says carry straight on passing the M25 (think we were on the M3) ended up in London (at this point i got worried) but good old sat nav directed us through London avoiding congestion charge and all seemed fine moving around 20mph passed london mini shop (beeped the horn as we passed) then it started to go slower then crawling moving at approx 1mile every 40minutes and just as we got to Blackheath hill (i think) half way up and smoke appeared from the arches all long with a few choice words my clutch just went. Manged to get my uncle to tow my back to his place in a range rover vogue on a short tow rope this was fun i was being pulled as if i wasn't there keep the tension on the rope he said being towed at 50-60mph then we get to the new bridge to the isle of sheppey he puts his foot down now we are doing close to 90mph on a 2m rope luckly we made it in one peice ordered a clutch to arrive in the morning.

In the morning we start getting the car ready to just fit the clutch when it arrives hungover from the night before at the nightclubs. I had all the tools and special mini tools to do the job then the 1 of the bolts rounded on the clutch cover and we had to break it to get it off. The clutch arrived and was the wrong type its now 12pm sat and football was on at 3pm and noone could get a clutch till Monday, sooo the clutch plate was the same size as the newer one but the centre was thinner so we chanced it and after a small adjustment on the end bolts i had a clutch and made it to crystal palace. Arrived at c.p just after 5pm found the miniforum banner and parked up and put up the tent and did realise later there was another group from here at the quite side of the site. Me and my mate spent a few hours walking round with funny jester hats on talking to lots of people before turning in for an early night.

4am woke up by everyone moving their cars to line up not wanting to miss my palce i do to put the tent away lined up for the run pack and then waited for the long stop start to brighton. Three hours later made it to brighton now 12pm had a walk round brought a few bits took pictures filmed the autotesting which was fab. Seen Roo wrapped in the banner and many other peoples cars at the show. Left the show at 6pm driving back to cornwall and just past exeter the carb iced up and we had to push the car to a layby about quarter a mile to un freeze after this and a long day we made it home by 1am.

Will post some pics later.

Embarassing thing is it was quicker home on the back of a lorry than it would have been driving!!! and the recovery dude knew a quick way out of Brighton, we were clear in about 10 minutes.

wasn't a very good day for me, my first run and didn't really know what to expect. Left Crystal Palace at 9.30 and got to Brighton at 2.10. The traffic was an absolute joke. Is it always like that? By the time i'd parked up etc most of the events had finished for the day so i was quite disapointed. I think next year i'll park outside Crystal Palace and then just before the convoy leaves i'll make my own way down to Brighton. At least then i'd get to look around the stuff at Brighton. But apart from the traffic and overheating while stuck in traffic in Brighton, it was a good day. Did anybody see it on TV?

Yep, the traffic is always like that. Its generally a good idea to study a couple of maps a day or two before the run and find some shortcuts, at least in and out of Brighton. TomF and I managed to beat quite a few minis that left in the line before us just from taking a couple of shortcuts!

Crafty!

I think if the run wasn't so stop start, I think it would of been a more enjoyable run, but over heating cars, and then resorting to pushing along the coast was a PITA, now I know Flubber suffers from overheating, but Dee's Mini (Maddy) doesn't suffer as bad as I do, and hers boiled!! lucky her slave friend got out and pushed, while she sat at the controls.

It was a brilliant day, my first time doing the run, and hopefully not my last. It was also my Minis first long journey. Luckily she had no trouble running, apart from she doesn't like crawling in traffic and has a tendency to overheat, but I reckon thats a common problem. Here are a few Photos I got.

Just got on.

The banner was up. Was great to meet a few more of you.

Just to let you know TMF may be in the next issue of Miniworld! A random lady and guy walked past and out of sheer randomness I said hi. She asked me my name and what club i was from and then she said that she was from mini world and if i wanted a picture taken of the mini. Tomsbluemini kindly took up the offer. So they got a pic of tomsbluemini and his mini and a picture of Markytizz's mooningminifan and Rodders minis in front of the banner.

I was the one wrapped up in the banner at crystal palace.. God knows why. :- Walked past mini magazine photographer, hope they didn't get a picture :D

Also next year i'm gonna see into getting a TMF club stand.

Heres some of my pics
