:P simple anser should have been about 12 posts ago is

power at wheels/6 if its a 600kg car

then timed by 10 so

180/6=30

x10 300

i duno what the rest of are babbeling on about could be random rubbish of failing that im clueless

being clueless is more my thing tho!

This is exactly what I put on page 2...but with less steps, as for sum reason, uve timesed the weight by 10 early on, to then cancel it out by timesing by 10 again at the end lol

SCCR may imporve losses but i would suspect you will be very surprised when you put it on the rollers FM.

I would suggest you are being over hopeful with that and should be looking at high 60's for your wheels figures.

Anyway RR proves nothing as i have said before. Its all pub talk.

Its what you do on the track / road that matters.

Just make sure you dont run out of the most important thing in fast paced driving.......

TALENT

it has been on the rollers (peter bawldwin's) thats where i got 90bhp from ! but ur probly right not running out of petrol and road also helps

Dont guess at the weight of your car, get it on a weigh bridge. You will be surprised I promise you.

You will not get to 550 kilos with out an enormous amount of time and money being spent.

Very true!! People were guessing on mine being very light with it being a fibreglass shell and an R1 engine some guessing 450kgs others swearing it wouldn't be more than 500 and when all was said and done it came in at 581Kgs. Personally I wasn't bothered about the weight, in the end it's how it feels to drive that was important to me! And boy oh boy does it deliver!!!! :P

So mine was rolling roaded (to set it up not just to check power) and it came in at 159.9bhp. So in answer to the original question divide that by the weight (581) = 0.2752 multiply by 1000 and hey presto 275bhp per tonne or ton (can never remember which ones which  ) which is plenty to be very rapid indeed!!!!

Is that with you in it? As that may have a massive bearing on the outcome!!

581kilos is an awesome weight to get to, i'm about to cut half of my car away and would be surprised if I got that low, anything under 600 kilos and i'll be happy.

Yeah I didn't realise how much effort goes into getting cars really very light! Some people guess figures and are really surprised when they actually weigh them!!!

Ive got axle weighing things they use for trucks in the garage and got mine to just under 660KG. While its in the body shop im getting c/f one piece front end, doors boot, bumper etc running with plastic windows totally stripped out. Im also looking to change the subframes and running gear as best as i can to get the weight down. But the 660KG is the weight at the mo without anything done to the body.

good thread - my mini WAS 517kg last year (06) full of fuel and fluids, this year it will be 485kg in the same condition - road legal, full of fluid etc, with 165+bhp of 16v a series pushing it along it should be reasonably nippy in the power to weight ratio game, 340/ton without me in it, 290/ton with me in it . As the guys are saying to get anywhere near 550kg is major work - mine is still going down in weight after 10 years at it.

light minis do handle and respond like nothing else
