Very good guide matt!!

A question about the trigger wheel etc.

Iv got my pulley off and ordered the trigger wheel tonight, then going to get it machined and fitted...

Have i read right that the trigger wheel goes 90degrees before TDC?

Then can the sensor go anywhere, or where??

cheers.

Ok, so when number 1 is at TDC, the missing tooth should be at the top tooth of the teeth on the timing cover??

And it may be a silly question, but at TDC should it be the centre of the missing tooth, beginning or end of???

cheers

middle, but to be honest it doesn't have to be that accurate. You can fine tune it with the software ;D

You can put the sensor anywhere, the edis assumes tdc is 90 degrees after the missing tooth has passed it so, ideally, make sure when the engine is at tdc the gap is 90 degs after the sensor. You can just correct it with the software but edis has a limp home mode so you will need to be pretty near to make use of that if you want to. The pick up to wheel clearance specified is 1mm.

If you haven't already have a look at http://www.autosportlabs.net/Main_Page

Thats a great help, thanks.

On the picture above you can see on my sheilded cables, the sheild goes into the connector, then comes back out again, as to go along with the cable, where does this go??

And where does the other wnd of the sheild go?

cheers.

Pins 1 and 2 (blue/yellow and blue/red) simply go into the MegaJolt unit itself, as PIP and SAW. Pin 4 (brown) connects to the cable shield of these two.

The shield only connects at the EDIS end - at the MegaJolt, only PIP and SAW connect.

The diagram on the page that Ken linked to is exactly how I conntected my MJ unit up.

thats great, cheers.

Does the pip and saw really need a sheild if the edis unit and megajold are mounted quite close to each other behind the dash??

cheers

I would still do it.
I have seen Fords without the shielding, but better to spend a few pence on the cable, rather than have problems.

today, after a first restart of my engine last week end I decided to got out with the car. At the beginning, all was great.

I decided to stop the car in order to check and adjust my carbies (2 weber 40 mm DCOE). Then I restarted the engine and few meters after, i lost power.
I check all the grounds. But nothing especially to notice. I succed to restart the engine with the defaut advance from the edis (not easy with my VR).
I plugged my lap top to the megajolt. I take note there is no map on this one.
Ok, i rewrote mine, and calibrate my TPS. I just restarted the engine for a quick test. It seemed to be ok.
But i can't have enought time tonight to go out for a new run.

How can you explain what happened ? I check up my fuzz. It is ok.
No problem of communication betwen my lap top and megajolt. Have you any ideas ?

thanks for help before new test and run tomorow !
