I also dislike the BINIs but, as some already said, they may have a classic as well. I still wave back to them though ;D (but only if they wave first)

I wave back if a BINI flashes me! you don't know why they are waving, maybe they are just showing appreciation of your car, I've been waved at by all sorts of cars, not just minis and MINIs - ok its usually kids, but hey its all good fun, everyone loves a mini!

i think a stoney faced stare would adequately sum up the general feeling of contempt without offending

Id wave back, but only to be polite, its a bit harsh just to ignore/ make rude gestures.

thats shocking, obviously a complete goon thinking hes driving a piece of classic british history, when in fact hes driving a shoddy piece of german rubbish.

a shoddy piece of (ROVER DESIGNED) German rubbish.

The New mini was designed by Rover as far as i know.

Think about it for a second, if BMW hadn't shafted Rover for the Mini and Range Rover names, and the new mini wore a Rover badge, would you still stic your finger up?

Ive been flashed by a bini and i waved back. I dont want one, but an enthusiast is an enthusiast, and if they like Di enough to wave then that pleases me!!

I have driven loads of diiferent land rover models and got waves in most of them (an off road prepped discovery, a defender 90, a 1981 series 3, a classic range rover v8 and a newer range rover) I only got waves in the newer range rover when it was covered in stickers though!

But do you think everyone would automatically accept it if that was the case. I mean do you wave and flash at MiniMetros?

If BMW hadn't got everyones backs up and it had been sold via Rover dealers, then there would probably be less hostility. But it still wouldn't be accepted as a proper Mini because Issigonis wasn't involved.

Oh and the New MINI was designed by a yank who was working for BMW. ;D

Anyway I'd wave or flash back now, even though I've blanked them in the passed. But that's only if I even notice their presence, because to be honest they just don't interest me.

I have only ever had one acknowledge me, he waved at me, or thumbs up, i just discreetly nodded and held my head in shame.

I think he waved cause he had the cream and black cooper, and obviously, similar colours to mine.

Taffy - i don't think everyone everyone would automatically accept it if that was the case. I just don't get the hostility between some new and classic mini drivers.

It's a car, get over it i say.

I'd ignore them... or just laugh at the fact they're probably flashing because they think they've got a better car than you when you know they haven't ;D
