Not sure what the record is nowadays, but I remeber being involved in the Mini 30th cavalcade @ Silverstone, it was reputed to be 10,000 minis
Im sure the Mini 40th broke all these records. There was no gap on the track, it was nose to tail all the way round the Silverstone National circuit. It started out as three abreast but ended up as a free for all. It has currently been the largest collection of Minis in one place that I have ever been in the middle of

Most cars of a single make would exclude Binis surely? Are there different records for a gathering ot convey?
Is it different if it's on a public road?

Shouldn't somebody check with the Guinness book to find out what the records and criteria are?

From looking at the web site id say it would only be classic minis that count, and according to the web site a record does not yet exist?????

I took part in the world record at Blackpool earlier this year. (there were only 30-40 classic minis sadly out of 269 cars

As for if Mini and Binis count, the rules for Blackpool said cars of "the same BRAND name". So as far as they're concerned as long as the badge says 'Mini' on it then it counts.

THE MODERN " MINI " IS THAT IN NAME ONLY STOLEN FROM THE LITTLE CLASSIC . THEY ARE BMW'S AND THATS THAT.....Any any of the above world records actually recognised by Guiness? And will this next attempt be recognised by them?
The records that has been registered with Guinness are the ones at Lytham St Annes, with 269 Minis and later Virginia.
Lets beat them!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a record with only "Classic Mini"......
Not sure, but we need all the Mini we can to break and smash the current record. I lover the modern Mini, but I would love to see mass of the classics.

Am I right in picturing Oz stalking multi stories in the staffordshire area, assaulting Binis with a bottle of tippex 'n a magic marker?

Mmm,
Am I right in picturing Oz stalking multi stories in the staffordshire area, assaulting Binis with a bottle of tippex 'n a magic marker?
yes. hey, its only a bloody car!!! that so happens is keeping the mini scene going as it is, and not turning into the MG scene with anoraks and flatcaps (no offence!)
would the situation be different if rover still owned mini, and was still going? i dont think so as the 'new mini' would have been poorly built, with a C**p K series engine.
