and as for oil surge its not nessesary to do anything to the engines most people run them as if they came out of the bikes the origional sump gaskets protrude out into the engine a fair way and must act as some kind of baffle but i fitted a baffle plate into mine as i thought it cant hurt.. and they are cheap enough off ebay....

there is alittle gizmo on the net that wires in between the speed sensor and the clocks and by the magic of tom tom or gps you can adjust the speedo to read the actual speed the car is doing... i've not fitted mine yet...

Do you have a link to this gizmo?

subframe is in now with solid mounts
engine is in
loom modified
hubs, brakes and driveshafts all in place
suspension on
clutch slave and lines mounted
radiator fitted and samco hoses
brake servo re-fitted
things left to do
modify inner wings
mount gear selector and cables
mount ECU and commander unit
mount new electronic guages to dash
mount speed sensor and route cables
mount oil temp / pressure sandwich plate and route cables
fit water temp unit and route cables
mount radiator fan
final wiring to ignition
re-fit dash
too much to do before Bingley unfortunately but we have been hampered by very slow deliveries of parts.
all my dials have had to change, so if anyone wants a full set of lovely magnolia dials let me know.
couldnt get the new gauges to match but went with a white scheme

Any progress on the mini?
Waiting for my promotive kit coming in the next batch
we are on the home straight with it now, just waiting for parts to arrive to complete everything
todays arrivals:
Dynojet commander unit - very small for the price but hopefully it'll work the magic it promises
braided fuel lines
braided clutch line
fuel filter - very bling in blue anodised finish
fuel pressure regulator - also very bling in blue anodised finish
fuel line diameter expander / coverter for tank to filter - 6mm to 8mm
new pics below.
Good luck with your conversion - its very straight forward in a slightly complicated way - once mine is up and running I'll post a full listing of all the ancillary parts I had to buy with prices and suppliers. Dont want to do it yet in case anything is wrong or doesnt work.
Out of interest riley what age car is yours going into? do you need modifier plates for the inner wing to add vents? I have 2 spares left over in stainless steel. I had them laser cut special.

i found a company selling ali rads on ebay, £149.99 beware though they are not great quality and must be made of bloody thick ali as it weighs as much as a std one full of water haha, however i 've fitted it as i think it should conduct heat well, mines slowly coming back together now first show wil be london to brighton and have a track day to book as i have credit with a trackday company for christmas...

commander unit has come and looks very slick, plugged straight into the loom for the R1 but the harness was quite short - I guess because its originally developed for a bike ? but its just long enough to reach to the glovebox, so it'll be hidden from view but easily accesible.
we have re-housed the remote oil filter to higher on the bulkhead so that the sandwich plate can be used to house the oil temp and pressure sensors. At least oil filter changes will be a doddle now.
ECU and relays have been put into a sealed plastic box on the bulkhead in what was previously the cut-out area for the turbo box.
inner wing has been cut and shiny stainless steel vent plate bolted in. Its 4/5 the area of the original hole in the other wing so fingers crossed it'll be sufficient.
If anyone wants any of these plates I have 2 spare - cost me 13 quid each.
This Saturday looks like it'll be a turning point and we hope to have it running by the end of the day.
