Just wondering what exhaust systems people choose for their Minis. Currently I have a stock, rust-red single pipe w/ cat. I'm definitely considering changing to an upgraded system, perhaps a Cooper Freeflow or LCB up front with the cat removed, but I wonder what people use in the rear? I'm leaning towards a chromed side-exit design, possibly a dual exhaust with angled tips...

Thanks!

Mainly looks... I'm not planning on tuning the car much past the Stage 1 point (if at all past that), so a decrease in weight or noise or anything isn't paramount. A more agressive tone would be OK, but hey - it's a Mini not a tuner car so...

Stainless would be good purely from a longevity/rust perspective, but I fear it will add too much cost to my budget. As my current exhaust is sagging and looks ready to give out in a few months, I was thinning of starting back there with a muffler replacement and cat delete, then working my way forward with a replacement exhaust manifold, upgraded air filter and carb needle replacement at a later stage.

Very nice - what did it set you back, if you don't mind me asking, and did you do the installation yourself or take it to a muffler shop?

Is that chromed tip a slip-on or is it integrated into that unit? I was thinking I'll start with a cat-back system and possibly will use the cat delete pipe as well (if I can find a shop that will do the work)...

i have a lcb, stainless link pipe and a twin side exit. (not recomended if you want the quieter mini!!)

you can pick these up at most mini part suppliers, for around £150.00 but if you can get to a mini show, you can pick them up for about £85.00!!! just look thro the mini magazine shop pages, untill you find one you like!! There will be a picture of my exhaust going onto my page, which is named Lilly Baby under complete re-builds.

LCB - is that just a cat-back system or a full header and everything?

lcb - long center brance -- its basicly an exhaust header - or manifold depends what ya wana call it - with that you will also need a link pipe (and cat depending on your mini's age) and a rear silencer (2 if u really want it quite)
