While we're talking exhausts...
A few people have mentioned decatting...
If you do this, doesn't the MOT still include the cat level test based on the age of the car?
So what - do people just remember to stick the cat back in at the right time - or adjust the mixture sufficiently??

What happens if you get pulled over inside the London low Emission Green Zone and they do a check?

Maniflow 1.75" twin box system, with a minisport LCB.

Used to have a stainless DTM but it was a little noisy on the run back and forth across the bridge.

Not sure about the london emission zone, doubt they would check but I'm not gonig to confirm this!
When I did my de-cat I just put it back on for the MOT.

2" S/S Playmini exhaust. I was gonna change it because its 2" (on a 998), but im so addicted to the sound of it now, it wouldnt be my mini without it, even if i does make your ears bleed >_<.

Just so people know, if you have a 2" exhaust system on a 998 you WILL have less power compared to a 998 that has the correct size exhaust system. Theory has been tested and proved many times over, the 998's lose back pressure when a 2" system is fitted. The size of the tailpipe doesnt really matter (as long as its not ridiculously big) the important size is the bore of the manifold, link pipe and back box where it connects to the link pipe.

This also applies to using LCB manifolds on 998's. Use a Maniflow Cooper Freeflow manifold and the correct size exhaust sytem to fit to it and then have a rolling road session if you want to optimise performance. Minispares include all this in their Stage One Kit for 998s, (which you might has well have bought once youve bought the manifold and exhaust seperately) Most other companies will chuck in an LCB with their Stage One Kits, beware!

With a 2" system on a 998, yes it will be very loud, but you wont be going as fast as you could be. Use the correct size and just run a single box system, this will be just as loud :P
