Well my re-shelling project is finally underway after waiting almost a year to start it! I had a dance with 6 fence posts and then went sky diving down a 40ft drop after the rear radius arm snapped on the way home from Castle Combe last year!

The main problem has been sourcing the paint. The closest I found and am using is a car plan colour match paint in amazing blue! But it has been discontinued and hard to get hold of! But i think i have found enough!

I am hoping that she will be ready for Castle Combe this year, so please look out for me and come and say hello. You can't miss us she is Lilac, and will have a load of shiny chrome and stainless steel on her as we are aiming to have her completed on the 28th, with the show being on the 29th!!! Fingers crossed.

Just recieved my new complete mini wiring loom, boy are they expensive, but no cutting corners!!

Ill add more photos as work progresses!
Do you think it is possible????? Let me know. And feel free to come down and help me out!!! There is also a pic of us at the L2B run this year!

the shell didn't come from them. my mate picked up an engine up north and the shell was sitting in the blokes garage. he wanted 300 quid for it. So as its in mint condition I bought it!!!

Painted it all myself from bare metal. The loom i got from mini sport(i think, it might have been mini spares) But for a complete loom, next day delivery cost just short of £170.00 You have to buy the front then the rear. I personally think it is a good idea to buy new if you can as you are guarenteed it works and the company offer a lot of free help and support if you need it!!! Hard to fit though!!!

Did you spray paint ?

Yes. i used a car plan colour match paint. which is £5.49 a tin but goes on like great and doesn't give the orange peel effect. I do reconmend car plan colour match paints! The primer was from pound land!!! Its is the smoothest primer i have used. I did start with primer from Halfords but it reacted with everything!! the £1.00 can from pound land didn't. I have used an expensive lacquer tho. The finish of the paint work is what I would have expected if she had been professionally sprayed.

If your thinking of re-spraying a car, my advice is to choose what paints your going to use carefully. Before using the spray cans i was using a 2-pac paint and spray gun, but the quality was poo even tho it cost over £100 quid. So take your time choosing paints, and you may have to spray a bit on in a small area, as in primer, colour, lacquer. It takes time but you can see before spraying the whole car what the finish will be like. I wasn't happy with the finish the expensive paint gave, but was with the cheap paint!!!!

Also take your time, make sure each coat has had plenty of time to go off and be completely dry. Rub back the primer after 24 hours with wed and dry sanding paper i use 1500 grit. Leave the rubbed back area for 24 hours before removing the chalky substance you are left with, then repeat with the rest of the coats!! Very slow job painting a full mini!!!! If you want a good finish that is.
