We didn't make the late shift last night went to the pub instead. Late shift tonight. Wev'e been up the garage all day. Stripped the engine out of the one mini to get the gear box off for its new engine, and what did we find! It was a nacker, as were the next 4!!! So they have dropped me off at home, and they are doing a 20 mile round trip to get another gear box. So got to get all of that back together!! So tonight is going to be a late one. When i get back in at whatever time tonight ill post up some more pics. Today i have got all the sound deadening down including on the inside of the roof, and the head lining in. Start getting some glass in later, ive also managed to get one of the rear light plates on, but not wired up as of yet.

I am filty, covered in sticky sh*t, oil and god knows what else!!

Look out for the pic in the early hours!!

Due to the state of the paint work already on it when i bought it(number of different paint bases on it) I had a lot of work to do to get it down to bare metal almose. So that took me a couple of weeks to get the paint off and flat! Then the spraying didn't take too long. Put a good thick coat of primer on it, left it for 24 hours, then used a 800 grit wet and dry (wet) to smooth over the primer. Left it another 24 hours before wiping away all the dry excess. Then put on the main colour in thin layers untill the car was covered well. (put a thin layer on when it is tacky, or as id found id gone round the car, go back to where you first started and put another layer on and so on) Then left that for a week. Then i used 1500 grit wet and dry (wet) to get rid of any imperfections. Left it for 24 hours and then removed the dry excess. Then i put on a coat of lacquer, not too thick and left it for 24hours. The reason i dont put on a thick layer of lacquer is simply because, with having to do all the brake pipes, if you get fluid onto the paint it will strip it straight to bare metal, also when changing the door glass you can catch the paint work (which i did yeaterday) So there could be the odd bit of paint needing to be put back on. Then it can have its final final coat of lacquer, but you need to cover all windows wipers lights etc.etc.

And that is how i did it all! Simple but takes time!

In total i spent £10 on the primer, i used primer from poundland as i personally think it is great. I've got a better finish with them than with the expensive primer for the roof! So 10 cans of primer, but i have got some left.

I then used a Car Plan paint which costs £5.49 a can. In total ive used 10 cans and have 3 spare for any touches that might need finishing after the works been done (you never know how you might nock it!)

The i used an expensive lacquer from Halfords. So far used 5 Large cans at bout £15 a can. But have another 5 cans left for its final lacquer after any nocks have been fixed!

Well been up the garage today. Finally got the headlining in properly! Boy was that awkward on my own. Ive also got the door glass in and all sound deadening is done. Ive also put the glass seals on both the doors. Tomorrow it putting the wing mirrors on, and then untill friday i think that is about all i can do.

We got the Blue mini running today at long last. Problem after problem with that thing. Now it is all in it wouldn't turn over as it is new and the crank wouldn't turn, but now sorted that. so that is being run in. Tomorrow the other half is setting work on his, they reckon there is 2/3 days work on that mini, then they will both be helping me do mine!!

I'll post more pics tomorrow!

Well she aint ready for castle combe. We hit some huge problems with the other 3 minis and now there is only two of them going. And one has broke down this morning, so they are frantically trying to fix it before we leave at 2pm! Im looking forward to it as there is some one off the mini forum going to castle combe and staying in the same place as up. I just hope they arn't up market and using a static caravan. We aint posh so we are camping!!!! If we can get the tent up as it took 6 of us on the L2B run this year and there is only 4 of us to do it later!!!

Well old lilly is in the garage and more or less completely stripped! or as my other half puts it "she's been raped!" I have loads of pictures to post, but due to having a new phone, i cant work out how on earth to send them!! will have to put them on to disk then run them onto the computer. Im working tonight, so not going up the garage today, but i have tomorrow off as A/L so will be cracking on. Have hit many problems like needing 2 new headlinings (the cat used the first one as a scratching post, so it was fed to the dog, the cat that is!) only joking the cat is fine!

Should have the pics on by tonight as have hours of sitting down doing nothing in work this evening so i will work out how to e-mail them to my pc! Ill also be including pictures of my old Lilly, so you can see how much (or little) damage was done when we went dancing with 6 fence posts and jumped off a 40ft drop!

Tune in later! ;D

ok so there is a problem in general uploading photos at the mo its not just me!! Well at the last mini show on the 11th may i spent a small fortune! I bought a custom dash and console in the black and lilac to more or less match my door cards! The engine is ready to come out still!!! Have the headlining mastered and the seals inplace for the rear and front window along with the rear opening quater light glass (all glass is green tint). I have also changed the door handles and the boot lock to new stainless ones! Not much more has been done as i spent an hour looking for the new screws i bought and still havent found them! changed the curtosy light switches on the door post then almost wet myself laughing as my mate was welding and set fire to the rear seats on his rally mini!!! Am only working fri and sat then off for two weeks so she should be completed fairly soon, but due to a rally fast approaching im busy trying to get the rally mini on the road and ready for yet another night event!!

Everything could still go wrong!! big style!!! Seems my beloved mini is always being put on the back burner until its convinient for them!! Neva mind i will get there at some point!!

If i dont check in before see you all at MITP where I WILL BE IN MY MINI!

Ok spent all night up there and am dead on my feet to day. The only peice of glass yet to go in is the front window as it has been smashed over the winter so if any one has a green tint lying around give me a shout! I also helped finish the mini that is for the night event rally. Just got front to rear brake pipe to do then its off for its MOT tomorrow!
