learn from my mistakes more like!!!!!

think im going to have to rip the whole passenger side floor out and replace it with a complete one piece floor!

anyway yesterday i mangaged to get back out to the garage :( bascially i had to force myself and what better time when i just finished work (sunday overtime :)) come home in me messy gear and just walk into the garage and start on the car again, but it was only for a few hours just to get me into it again, and all the tools neatly laid out as they were when i left her before xmas :)

well......... lets say there's no sill now.............

Posted Image the "orange" bits are fibre glass showing through the holes in the sill...... one of the previous owners has seemed to just fibre glass the sill and let it rot!

i knew it was bad but not that much

this gave me a hint......
Posted Image

anyway off to think about that panels i need now and weighing up the pro's and con's of wether to buy a full floor or each side as one piece and also other bulkhead panels.........

the more i repair each panel another 2 or 3 rusty panels show up! ah well thats mini for ya

ok so pulled my figure out and decided i need to get the shell sorting out! i now know what route i going to take i just need advice on the door check panels which i have posted a help in the general mini chat...... still waiting to hear from people.....

right so basically i want to raise the car off the deck, so this ment tidying the garage up sort my tools out and sweep the floor,

i then set about to make some stands (which by the end were useless!!! will sort out tommorow)

this is the height i was wanting and got......

Posted Image

by hanging the mini from the roof........

Posted Image

and also jacking the middle up so i could get my stand into the suspension bolts

Posted Image

Posted Image

but i was a waste of time......

Posted Image

now the garage is like this

Posted Image

two straps hanging the mini from the roof beams....... i'll find out tommorrow if they hold........... :)

oh and my drivers side A panel was held on with one tack weld...... it ripped off in my hands!

Posted Image

more  ing rust!

I had the same thing happen to both my old a panels! I literally just gave them a tug!

Looks like you'll need new flitch panels! Maybe even door post?

ok back again

monday was a bad day. thought i damaged the welder only to find out i just blew a fuse and also i need a new welding tip.

so yesterday went to town to get a new tip only to find the differnt sizes for different wires! doh! anyway dad off tommorow to change it for the correct on.

so now i can't weld or replace and panels.... so i went onto paint stripping

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

then i thought ah not a good idea. take all the paint off and let the rust start to appear so i stoppped that lol

so on to today i got the hoover out and went over the car cleanning all the dust from sanding i did then primed the scuttle panel and roof.

Posted Image

thinking what i could do next was clean the bulkhead, dad's gonna get me some nitromors to help me out with that :teehee: so i started to remove the wiring loom only to realise the whole lot from the back is gonna have to come out!

Posted Image

i tied a piece of shoe lace to the end of the wire so when i need to put the loom back i've got an easy way to pull it through :)

rust showing again

Posted Image

so out the pedal box comes! and this is where i got side tracked.....

strip and get the wire brush onto it

Posted Image

rusty!

Posted Image

shiney shiney

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Primed

Posted Image

shine

Posted Image

Posted Image

notice the bolt missing. the threads were knackered and need to be replaced... so they needed to be cut out,

Posted Image

and after a long day i cleaned up, who say the rear parcel shelf isn't useful :)
