Ade, how have you done the fuel gauge sender unit and what make sender hav you used??
Also could you measure the diameter of the filler neck (outside measurment) as i plan to put a remote AERO TYPE filler in the scuttle panel with a length of hose connected to the original filler neck where the screw on cap fits, to save lifting the bonnet to refuel?

Cheers mark :wales:

Hi Mark

The filler neck is 44.3mm so I guess you could call it a 45mm OD.... I did consider extending the neck aswell but typically being a minus there just isn't room!! There's no space in the scuttle panel and I thought about taking it to the wing but again no space because of shocks and the tank being too tall! If I had done it the filler pipe would have been practically level! :nugget:

The fuel sender was from the same places as the guages (Revotech).

Hi guys,

just read your posts regarding the fuel filler scenarios. I opted to go with an aero filler cap in the scuttle panel, as fortunately my shell had been boxed off in this area to accept a weber carb. This gave enough clearance for the cap and hose (with a little help from my angle grinder). I removed the old filler tube from the top of the tank, and had a new (larger diameter) one welded on at angle. At the same time I had a plate welded onto the tank to accept my fuel level sender (from www.airworlduk.com). This means I don't have to mess about with dzus fasteners to remove the bonnet when I need a re-fill.

Will take some photo's tonight and post tomorrow.....

Bye for now.

Lucky bugger! I would have liked to do that! Being a minus it really wasn't happening!! It was bad enough trying to get the bonnet hinged :nugget: So I didn't have to completely remove it to fill up!!!!!!! That would of got pretty tiring pretty quickly!

Yes you do. It's either a 30 or 35ltr ally tank. Plenty of pictures on this thread under the bonnet big silver shiney thing

I don't envy that Dale!!!! Thats exactly what I was trying to avoid and why I hinged mine

Realistically they wouldn't have been ready for the shoot unless we had worked on them for every waking moment up till the shoot! Mr Stent was very keen but we had to say no. But he did say probably early next year when he does the next mini video he'll want them both for that. I don't see whats suspect about it.......

Have had some interest from some mags aswell but thats another story :cheese:

Anyway todays task of getting the bulkhead started has gone reasonably well! We thought it would be a time consumeing job and we were right! Not helped by the weather we had to quickly erect a gazebo to stop us getting soaked! using one of the side panel tied from the gazebo to the garage door as a make shift walkway :nugget:

Anyway we got the front permanent parts fixed and mounted all the ecu rectifier and sensors and kill switch aswell as ran the pipework through the bulkhead for the expansion tank.

We decided to carpet the bulkhead as not having the tools, patience or skill required to do a good enough job of cutting the aluminium to shape it looks a bit untidy and scratched. But am pleased as it looks very good in my humble opinion!
