to be honest ive not really thought about it. but looking at the engine.. its much like the A-series indeed, small and everythings compact. Might get some measurements, its just a shame the biggest one is the CG13DE, although in turbo form have proven to produce 200hp.

Hi,

I remember seeing a Midas with a Micra engine in Tobago I think, was it one you did? if so do you think the engine in your last post would fit?

Thanks

I'd say definitely - the first valver I ever saw was a Midas Bronze at Mini 35 at Silverstone in 1994 - that was a 1.4 K series IIRC. The Micra engine is substantially more compact.

That's interesting, and he was ahead of the pack in 1994, I've never seen or heard of a Mk2 Midas with a K-series before.
I was at Mini 35 myself, we had a 92 Sprite with just an exhaust and inlet mainfold mod on, we upset a couple of guys in a new Cooper who didn't look best pleased that we managed to keep them behind on a dual-carrige way.

It was Mike Perkins' car from the Mini Marcos OC - he always painted his cars in yellow filler primer for some reason - and yes, in the scheme of things, it was a very early conversion. Very tidy as well - really looked like it was supposed to be in there.

I know Mike very well and speak to him most weeks, that explains why I couldn't place the car, that was a Mk3 coupe that he converted, the same as in my avatar, the Metro based one.

Yes he did a good repair job on what was a very badly damaged car, he has a K-series mk4 now but does sometimes miss his original mk1 Midas.
