1275 over bored with 544 cam, double row timing chain, high volume oil pump, larger valves, intake ports enlarged. Motor #12g1279, Head #12g940, trans# 22g1832.
I was wondering what the engine is from and if it will fit in my 1975 Austin Mk3 Mini 1000cc?
And What will i have to modify if i want to put it in?
Could someone who knows about engine numbers give me some information and tell me if it will fit please

I'm not sure about the engine numbers. There are a few things that do need to be changed when swapping from a 998 to a 1275, but there are loads of threads about them.
One thing you may need to be aware of is whether you have a rod or remote change gearbox in your shell. I'm not sure when they changed from the earlier remote type to rod type but have a feeling it's around 1974? Someone else will confirm that for me I hope.

And can you put a rod gearbox in a remote car?

That's a rod change gearbox. Remote change boxes have a long alloy casing that houses the gear lever. You can fit a rod change box into a remote shell, I've just done it, but it involves a couple of little mods, that's all.
that? oh thats just a scratch haha

Not a massively agressive cam, but much better than std, also rather old.. which would tie up with the A series theme of the engine (not A+)
