you can fit a battery cut off switch, but if you fit an inline fuse between the 2 terminals, and fit a fuse thats powerful enough to just run the alarm so if someone tries to start the car, they wont and the fuse will blow. just an idea

so would i then just have to replace the fuse and everyhting will work as normal ? will the alarm and imobbiliser need ot eb re set or will they be fine
so put in somehting liek mini misison said http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=36489

yeah you would have to reset the alarm after changing the fuse. and the thing that you found on minispares is what i meant, or you can use the other type with the big red removable key.
although even with a switch, someone who is going to hotwire your car will find it and just connect the wires together.

to be honest anything can be nicked i just want to slow them down
so the one with the big red key lets a small current through dose it ?

is it this one your on about http://minispares.co....aspx?pid=35269 the cheaper non fia approved one seems to cut everything ?

that will cut everything, although if you were to bridge the connections with an inline fuse it will allow just enough power to keep the alarm, immboliser and any radio settings working. although remember that the alarm runs through the horn so allow for that when selecing the fuse rating.

Check this site out gents... If you want to be a bit more cunning than using a switch that a theif could find, how about using your horn to start your car, without the horn sounding until the car starts!

my starter button works like this...when you twist the key aorund once,it turns on the electrics and stereo.twist it twice round and the ignition lights light up and only then can you push the ignition push start.fairly easy to do if you have the right equiptment.

why not put a household reed switch glued to the back of the dashboard feeding a relay. leave a magnet stuck somehwere inside the car and then when you want to start the car... on ignition, place magnet near reed switch, that reed switch activates the relay that is connected to the starter. Eh voila... the car starts in a magical a cool way!

ffs don't have a power cut switch inside the car which isn't one of those big red key ones!!! the reason they were designed like that was so that whilst driving at night you don't accidentally hit the wrong switch and loose all power, lights and will to live.

All you need is a switch in line with the starter motor so that when you turn the key to start, nothing happens unless that switch is activated... that way, you will still have power to the rest of the car and if the switch gets knocked, turned off, the car will continue to operate without problem.
