I did take a bit of time away from the mini , been busy tidying and reorganising the garage. It's now completely spotless, wall to wall. Had 5 cars in there last week, it's huge :-D

Not updated this thread in ages!
The big news is last Friday, I drove the car out of the garage for the first time under it's own steam..
Crossed lots of jobs off the list since the last update. Started fitting out the interior; the roof lining is fitted, and I have re-covered the dash rails.
Unfortunately I had a bit of an accident on Sunday whilst trimming the centre console with a Stanley knife, which resulted in a trip to A&E and some stitches on my hand. I doubt I will be able to do much on the Mini for a week or so.

I ended up with one of these after a slip with a stanley knife last November working on the Mini.......severed a tendon and had to have plastic surgery to stitch it back together then 3 months of physio. Stanley knives are EVIL Hope it heals up soon!
Car's looking good - get some more pics up dude!

Ouch!
Mine isn't as bad as that! I was lucky to miss the tendons, although I can't really move my thumb very much. Hoping I haven't caused any long term damage though.
I was a complete idiot though. Cutting towards me.. brand new blade in the knife... just took a split second to slip and launch itself towards me.

Should start a new thread, GT's fighting back.
Your GT's looking cracking by the way, I bet it was nice to see it outside!

Easily done unfortunately - I was just using a blade. Was holding it in my left hand - pulled on a wire with my right hand to pull it free of the loom i was tidying and it snapped - I effectively punched the blade I was holding in my left hand.......DOH! Don't worry about the long term damage - I'm stunned at how much movement I have back in my thumb - considering what it was like just after surgery.
Love what you've done with the top dash rail - did you stitch that or is it a cover you can buy?? I need to do mine and that looks great!

The dash rail covers were from Optimise Automotive. I did the bottom rail too, and it came out reasonably well. I really like the stitching too, although it was quite hard to get completely straight, but it's not too far out.

Cool! Thanks for the link.
What do you get for that - is it a set of stitched vinyl that you then stick over the existing foam rails or does it include the foam?

It's stitched vinyl which you glue onto the existing dash rails with spray glue, and then (very carefully!!! ) trim the excess with a knife.
It does mean the dash rails are slightly thicker, so it's a bit of a job to get the switch panel back in, and I had to trim the dash vents.

So the big news is that the Mini hit the road for the first time in my ownership!
I decided that if I had any chance of doing L2B, I needed to have it MOT'd by now. So I booked an MOT for the 3rd of May and worked round the clock to get it ready.
It didn't go completely smoothly, as on the morning of the test, I found out that it had a misfire. I couldn't fix it in the time for the test, but it didn't effect anything as it doesn't have an emmissions test because it's so old.
It failed the MOT on a couple of minor things, but nothing major and I've fixed them already. Hopefully getting it re-tested this week
