Cheers :D

I tried the camshaft inside the bearings and it doesn't seem too tight, so I think they are ready to go.

The paint has covered well. Unfortunately there are a few bits in the paintwork - dust & probably overspray that has landed on wet paint, but will rub back and cut and see what it comes up like.

Car has been flatted back with P2000 to remove the orange peel (long job by hand). My brother has been cutting and polishing by hand (another long job). By about half way round, I bit the bullet and bought a Meguirs polisher. Almost done now

I put the front subframe back together. New rubber cones and knuckles. New bushes. Lots of new nuts and bolts.

Fitted brake line and fuel line

Seems nice to finally be putting stuff back on the car!

Might even have the engine sitting in there this weekend.

Thanks!

Lots more done since last update. Pedal box, steering column and master cylinders in. I have made all the brake lines up and fitted those.

Fitted hubs, brakes and shock absorbers.

And fitted the engine :)

Spent the past few weeks mostly working on the wiring loom. The wiring had been horrifically bodged in the past - connections consisted of wires twisted together, lots of insulation tape, and also loads of horrible blue crunch connectors.

The best thing for it would have been the bin, but I fancied a challenge. Spent about £30 on new connectors and terminals (vs £160 for a new loom).

Added in some extras like hazards and twin speed wipers.

Loosely fitted it in the car today and tested it. It's all working now. :techsupport:

Will take it out of the car and re-tape it (proper loom tape) and install properly this week

Wow Sam, looks like you had a long break on your project like I did - it was you that I bought the 10" Revolites off wasn't (in about 2006!)?  I'm about to MOT my project and I'm finally getting round to fully paint-stripping and re-finishing those wheels.

Love this project - your attention to detail and quality of workmanship is fantastic........how many spares have you got lying around!?

Thanks mate!

Yeah a long break for sure.. too many other projects (and Peugeots) got in the way!

I'm lucky to have loads of spares lying around from years of autograss racing. Pretty handy but it takes ages to clean all the mud off the parts :D

Looking forward to seeing your car with those Revolites!

Progress has been quite leisurely recently but I have got a number of time consuming jobs done.

First one was mounting the fuel tank. When I replaced the boot floor, I fergot to save the bracket for the tank strap, so I had to fabricate a new one. Really pleased with it - used the metal folder at work and it looks original. :D

I came to fit the heater box and realised I couldn't fit that either because of the turbo bulkhead box. Made some special brackets up, again using the metal folder at work.

Plumbed up fuel and coolant hoses.

And today got it running :D  Sounds amazing - and the throttle response is incredible.

Looks good! I wondered if you were still doing this or had given up. I'll need to pop over and take a look so and bring my gear box over!
