thus the strengthening plate as mentioned earlier. the glass is what makes the weight on the doors really. maybe a perspex replacement will do the job.i think the door is the weak point
they are a lot heavier than a MK1 door

Your correct bungle.
The mk3 doors are alot heavier than mk1/2 doors.
Tis why you need to completely gut the doors of ANY excess metal, and preferably use plastic windows. You don't want to put speaker pods or anything on the doors, as they will put too much strain on the hinges.
If when your making the strenthing plates, its pretty much the same way Carl has fitting the A-Panel hinge points, nly reverse and put inside the door.
