Hi Folks, I need some help.... I was looking at building a 1430cc minisport block with a weber carb, just wondering if anybody can tell me what kind of head I'll have to bolt on to get around 130bhp ? and any cam advice would also be welcome.

Cheers

Cheers folks, I was originally thinking a minisport 7 port head, but I've decided that I want to keep the original front (ie bonnet) on the mini so I'm limited to a normal A series head, does anyone know what kid of performance figures I'd be looking at with a 1430cc block and a minisport stage 5 head (37mm inlet 31mm exhaust) oh and running something like a Kent "Super Sports/Rally" cam and a single 45 Weber

oh, and this will not be a daily driver ! just a Sunday / track day car

When it comes to cylinder heads, you don't have to go with Minisport. There are plenty of other options out there.

Your choice though!

You'd get better performance with modified stuff from a 'proper' engine builder; MED, Morspeed, Swiftune, Bill Richards, Longman, Rob Walker, Paul Inch, etc.

dont bother with a 7 port, u still have stupid siameese ports on the exhaust. If ur willing to spend money on a 'different' head go for a 8 port.

As for getting engines from minisport... i wouldnt, but its your choice.

the reason I'm talking minisport is I'm looking at a kit and building the engine myself.

you build all the others yourself. These companies are just machineists unless you ask them to build for you. You take them parts to be machined, balanced etc etc. Just because minisport use the word 'kit' it doesnt make it any different. I can personally reccomend Southam mini + metro centre (SMMC), MED and Bill Richards.

But, with the 7 port you can still use normal A series cams, exahsut manifolds/systems etc....

I reckon the 7 porters are a good idea to be honest. I'd like one of them.

Just get your block/crank machined balanced, new pistons ect by a `proper` engine builder, plenty to choose from as stated above also Tom Bell is who built my 1330

I would go for a 7 port as it easier option than 8 port i.e cam ect
