just checking over what iv been told...

Apprently with abit of headwork, a cam kit and the rest being well built. My 1275 carb will see 90bhp do 60 in less than 12 seconds and sitt happy at 75-80ish.

What do you guys think?

90bhp is quite alot - Well set up and tuned 1380s make about that so it must be having some fairly serious headwork done!

At a guess (odviosly you cant be sure due to weight) but what kinda bhp figure am i looking at to achive 60 times less than 12 seconds and for it too be happy at 75-80ish?

My plan is too convert to a Vauxhall X16XE lump in the end... but I need an engine thats gonner keep me alive on the motorway (as I do nerly 400 miles of motorway driving every weekend) and have bareable performance in the mean time. Ied like something that would give the same performance a normal run of the line 1.4 fez or corsa would have (nothing sepcial just normal hatchback performance)

Bhp doesn't really regulate how an engine 'is' at a certain speed really. It more depends on the gearing and the final drive fitted.

Plus I believe Bungle has a 5 speed box.

Whats gonner get me 60 in 12 seconds or less, will sitt at 75-80ish, be reliable and do 200ish miles on £20.

A 1990 Mainstream Mini Cooper with a good Stage One Kit will achieve all that and more easily.

Well mine does anyway, but I doubt it's currently putting out anywhere near 90bhp?

Well the engine in my Mainstream Rover Cooper is much the same as that fitted to an MG Metro, even though it originally lost a good few BHP due to the fact it did have a Cat. But the mechanical fan and the 3.1 final drive also doesn't help and neither did the big snorkel vent that was fitted to the air filter.

Of course I ditched the cat years ago, fitted an LCB and sporty exhaust system from Maniflow and the obligatory K&N cone shaped air filter.

I've never had it near a rolling road yet, so I can't say what it's putting out, but it certainly does fly now.
