Yes the engine number should reveal all and I believe there's an engine number guide somewhere?

Sounds like 12HA8xxxxx which is a 1985-65 MG lump with 10.5:1 compression ratio, 72bhp leaded.

no it dont atuchally... my mums micra is about as much use as a fish with tits.

well thats strange my mums micra goes really well, you get 85mph in 3rd, but it gets there quick as well, if you plant your right foot off the line it just spins and spins, it has quite good low down torque as too. So you saying that is a bit strange, weather your mothers micra has a different enigne i don't know. All know is my mus is on a L plate (1993), its a 1.3 lx (1275), 16v, twin cam. If i had the money i would seriously consider dumping the engine and box into my mini

OTT springs to mind... would be pointless as next year I intend to drop the X16XE in, im just trying to make the engine I have fun and drivable in the mean time.

Why not wait till then, rather than worrying about "tuning" the A-Series? after all, you've only got 2 months to wait...
