Dont know where to start with this as alot is undecided yet.

But today I collected a shell, and a shed load of parts with it.

Basic plan is spaceframe front end, tied into a full cage inside and possibly linking the rear suspension in as well... although I may go with rear beam.

Motor will definately Vauxhall, looking for a 16xe, but 1800s are alot easier to find and cheaper. Will be running on standard injection and ECU to begin with. Bike carbs/throttle bodies are a distant future thing.

Also hoping to run hydraulic clutch as I dont like the feel of cable clutches.

Going to be running 10's, so will be using F13 gearbox which I have found at my local breakers for £50, from a diesel car. Already bought 5 Mini special alloys, which I have had sandblasted. Need to speak to Carl at Force Racing and have them sent for some split rim treatment.

I think I'll be going for a clubman front end, but toying with the idea of MK1 credentials, like my current Mini has.

I want this car to be a modern, reliable and comfy car with abit of poke. Alot will say you cant have it all, but I shall prove you wrong.

Interior will be Front reclining Recaro's that Ive already got and will be having recovered. Looking into using late stalks, wipers (intermitant) and heater (2 speed).

Obviously a one off dashboard will be used, using Vauxhall clocks to make my life a little easier (just leaving fuel guage to ponder about)

Theres plenty more for me to think about and pick other peoples brains about. This thing will take me a fair while to do, so I guess this topic may become idle at times, but once I get stuck in I'll keep adding updates.

I'll get some pictures up as things happen.

Cheeeers.

Edit- Can I just say thanks to Purple Tom who I have been bugging with questions over here and by text for the last few weeks!

A great start, wish I had that :P I'm pleased to see another vaux engined mini being taken on! Will keep my eye out. Give me a shout if you need any help too.

As for the 1.8 v's 1.6, your gear box is of the small veriety and will only fit the small block which is the 16xe and lower. The 18xe's take the same gearboxes and the 20XE's. Hope that helps a little.

Hmm.

Ive been lead to believe and have read that some 1800s are small block and some are big block.

18xe's being big block.

18xe1's being small block.

So was planning to go 18xe1 if I cannot get hold of a 1600.

Please say if im wrong as im still learning about this vauxhall lark!!

Cheers!
