But.. I'm going to look at one thats been removed from a car at a breakers a few miles away, tomorrow.
He says he has a few 1600's, which made me laugh, cause for love nor money I havn't been able to find one anywhere near me.
Its 200 quid but I'm hoping it includes bits like engine loom, exhaust manifold, alternator, starter, ecu...

Having got fed up of breakers and scrapyards, either talking poop, asking too much money for things and being 'open 7 days' apart from sunday, the only day off I have...
Started looking on eBay. Saw a 1400 16v. Same engine, smaller capasity.
Bargain at £50 too.
So basically going to use this to build the car around, then if it turns out to be a dud, I can carefully toss that one in the skip and buy another. But at least its built and another can slip straight in.
At 50 quid it doesn't matter!
So I'm off to pick that up tomorrow evening.
That is all.

Got home.
Realized that when the crank was turned by hand, the rockers didn't move. Oh dear.
Took the cam belt cover off and.. you guessed it, broken belt.
Ah well.

A belt kit is about 50 notes.
A headgasket kit is about the same with all the gaskets and valve seals.
Then theres valves at about £7 a valve.. depending how many its bent.
And if your really unlucky, it may have mashed some pistons or scored the bore beyond use.
But I dont think its damaged the pistons or cylinder because it still turns very freely.
Annnnd, by the way... Progress may be still on hold because Ive just found out the motorbiker who rode into me last year is trying to take me to court!! How does that work then? Got to love british justice.

Ah yeah sorry forgot abuot that lot. When i destroyed my second clio i did the cam belt and managed to bend every valve possible lol
The mechanic told me £300 all in, parts labour the lot. Bill came and it was over £700!! The parts came to over £400, so i told him to stick it. anyway cut a long story short, he said that i wouldnt get the car back until i paid up, so cleve old me send the V5 to the DVLA telling them the car had been scrapped. He then asked for the V5 and was kinda upset when i told him what id's done

It works because you were parked in the middle of the road with your indicator on signalling to other AWARE motorists that you weer infact stopped and waiting to turn into a road.
