1) BLVC/965

2) Ideally 2k paint, but there is legislation against this now and most paint suppliers will only supply water based basecoats.

3) It is metallic basecoat, with a clear laquer over the top.

PS. Unless you have the equipment and a heated paint booth, dont even attempt to use water based at home.

I think you will be better off visiting a local body shop or automotive paint refinish suppliers to ask their advice.

Cheers mate. I can get the paint through work. And it is being sprayed by someone else with lots more experiance than me!

I thought i had figured this out lol, obviously not.

This is from the mini forum colour guide:-

Tahiti Blue - JMP (BLVC65)
Note that MG 'Tahiti Blue' BLVC65 is a completely different shade
Owners/Photos suppled by: JamesMoore and Stevobennet

However i was told in this thread that what i needed was:-

Car code JRJ
1) BLVC/965

2) Ideally 2k paint, but there is legislation against this now and most paint suppliers will only supply water based basecoats.

3) It is metallic basecoat, with a clear laquer over the top.

I don't mean to be rude (so excuse me if you think this is harsh) but I'm getting a severe case of Déjà vu here!!!

A couple of people already told you which paint code you needed for the colour you wanted way back in November...

TMF link

The code is ~ Tahiti Blue - JMP (BLVC65)

Yes, but if you read through this thread i am told it is something else. I am just making sure before i go ahead and get it sprayed the wrong colour. I asked for help not to be told off.

Mate, we told you the correct codes weeks ago, so why start another thread anyway?

I wasn't 'telling you off'.... it's just a little frustrating that all those people took the time to help you out, then you start another thread asking the same questions again....

I think that someone just made a typo and added a '9' in the code he gave you...... :(

Whatever.... Merry Christmas!! :P

The car above ^^ is the same colour as mine. Its the pearlescent Tahiti Blue. The VIN plate colour code is JRJ which equates to BLVC 965.
Below is the photo of the label on the tin i bought:

That explains where you got your code from then :dontgetit: If your VIN says JRJ... then that's what it must be!

If it helps at all I'll check our Tahiti Cooper next time I get a chance, to see if ours says JRJ too.... (I wonder where JMP came from if it's wrong?)

These two tins of paint were ordered from the same place and had the same paint codes on the tin (GN17):

Doesn't help anyone at all (:P), but my point is, that labels on a tin of paint don't prove that it's the right code! :ermm:

I can see where all the confusion is coming from now :(

Definitely! But it's our mini on the mini colours website & I'm still not sure where the guy got the paint code from!! :(

Yes... the paint turned up three times in the wrong colour, let's just say- if they were'nt so cheap for paint I would never use that company again! :ermm:

Just to add, one person mentioned this above, but Rover Tahiti Blue is NOT metallic, it is pearlescent...

it aint so easy as it seems...I got a vin code that is JDR.... (mini cooper rover sport pack)
which according to Rover gives me
Tahiti Blue (BLVC 965) JRJ and White Diamond 2 (BLVC 1218) NAL duotone for the roof.
