cheers for replies.

I'm just trying to make it smooth without taking it down to the metal to much.
its covered in runs at the min from the owner before me hand painting it with a brush.

Ive got some nitromors but will that be OK to use on fiberglass? the doors have been reskined in the past and replaced with a fiberglass skin.


I'm dreading whats under all the paint.
so far Ive done the passenger door and the rear passenger panel where the wheel arch is and found no filler yet but time will tell.

sorry my love i thought you meant it was a normal metal door, please dont use paint stripper though it might melt them

I just had the same problem.

I have no idea what the pickup was painted with, but as soon as it got warm (with the sander) it just started to melt and made a right mess.

I used a hot air paint striping gun on some of it, not much use to you without electric, worked quite well and left the original primer intact - made a bit of a mess if there was any filler though.

In the end I found a course (I was using 120 as that is what I happened to buy before I started) wet and dry did the job much better - I've done the Nitromours thing before and I wasn't about to repeat that farce again!

I recommened some Marigolds in this weather though, if you are using wet and dry.

i went for it today.ive tryed wet and dry 60 and 80 grit by hand and with the sander and it just clogs up every time.

so after 3 hours i has enough and get the secret weapon out NITROMORE'S .

the person who i brought the mini off said i had fiberglass skins on my doors but there not.
this took me ten min's to do.much quicker than sanding.

and when its all off i can repair all the nasty bits to.

i found the first bit of filler today see pi top left of door,im sure it wont be the last.

you can buy a bar of soap looking thing, when you rub sandpaper on it, all the clogs come off it instantly. my dad has one, i will find out what it is called.
