Reet...

This is as straight as its going to get:

Posted Image

It's in about 2 little turns and it seems like it will tighten up more as it's not stiff.

Is that straight?? I don't think it is, but it's a vast improvement on what it was doing before.

I don't want to tighten it more as i don't want to wreck anything, but then again, its as straight as I can possibly get it (trust me! I've spent 2 hours on this one bolt now!!)

What should I do? >_<

That's the best it'll get, so am i buggered? >_<

Doing anything with the timing chain while you're at it?

You might be able to use a longer bolt 'n put a nut behind the backplate if it gives any more grief. You might want to use some gasket sealant if it looks like it won't pull up properly.

I haven't done anything with the chain itself... I did have a look for wear and that it was all OK... and it seemed to be pretty perfect! >_<

Timing cover is ON! all bolts are in >_<

I'm just in for a cuppa and an early lunch, because I'm pretty sure my back is now fubar

Yep, well done. Seems lady luck is on your side - just hope it stops the leaks!

For future reference - if you can get this far then the back plate is something you could easily do at home yourself.

Starter motor is back on and I went to re-connect the solenoid...

somewhere down the line, I've managed to snap one of the connectors off the wires!!!!!!

Posted Image

Can I just strip the two wires back and put a new connector on?

Yeah, be sure there's enough slack in the wires so they don't pull out again.

AAAARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!

The engine mount bracket stupid thing won't line up!!!! >_<

I got it all in place and the rubber mount just doesn't sit right!! >_<

I either have the rubber mount sitting in the middle of the bracket... with the two bolts to the gearbox casing just NOT lining up at all... or I have the ones to the gearbox casing lined up and in, but the rubber mount not sitting in the little metal bracket to the subframe!!! >

What order should I be putting things together in? because I can't get it to work!!!

It's about 7mm out!! it just won't go!!!

Aaaaawe petal,

Assemble it all on the engine side so you just have the 2 bolts through the subby to do. Use a centre punch, screwdriver, or other pointy device through the holes (from the wheelarch side) to lever the mounting in to place.
