Aw, thank you, guys!
He's not had a very good time, at all

He's more ill than we thought, unfortunately
Reggie went back in on Monday morning. Everything seemed fine!
When Kris and I were in town, we got a phonecall from the bodyshop, asking us to go back to the car and have a chat about the rust that was on him and what they have to do to Reggie...!
So, we were quite confused as to what the bodyshop were talking about, as we figured that it was pretty straight forward, and I had explained what the problems were and what needed to be done, many times!!
So - we went back to the 'shop.
Not good news, at all
Reggie's rust was found to be in the metal and had been there for some time. It turned out not to be rust, but rot. The three worst places are on the front panel, all the way along the front bumper lip - the bonnet - .... and, unfortunately, the scuttle.
The scuttle, however, was found to be a large hole that had been fibreglassed up previously.
So, the simple job of sorting the seams, has now turned into Reggie needing some panel work!
However, the bodyshop admitted that they knew about this rust and rot, the first time he went into the bodyshop. The bonnet has rusted from the inside and all the way along the front lip - but no attempt was made to take the rust back - they simply painted over it!!
But what annoyed us even more, is the fact that NO-ONE bothered to ring me, to tell me that this rust was there. The guys at the bodyshop made no attempt to let me know the situation and carried on and painted over the rust, regardless.
My point to them, was this: If I was told about the rot then, I would have honestly pulled the car out of the shop at that point and paid them for the work up until then. This is because it would have then turned into a different job and a different quote (because I would want it done properly).
However... (this is where it gets complicated)
Because the bodyshop hadn't done their job right in the first place, they were just expecting and willing to re-do that for free. Now that there were new things found (and I would ideally like to do the job, in full and replace the front panel, there and then) - there would be extra charges to do that.
The quote that the bodyshop have given for that work (not including panels) is £1080 + VAT!
So - I've said no!
I then, basically, asked to be refunded some of the money that I had paid them. (I would have paid them up until the point that they SHOULD have told me about the rust/rot. I would not have paid any more, as I would have pulled the car out then, had I known)
So, they agreed to working out a price for me to be refunded.
However, the guys have said that the £350 I paid for this job to be done, was massively underquoted! (Apparently £600 short!

) (which is probably why it wasn't done properly in the first place?)
Anywho - the refund turned out to only be in the region of £50, going by their hourly rate!!!!
So, I'm in the situation now that I have to get the job done on Reggie, that he initially went in for - without getting the panel work done, as I refuse to pay that price.
So, just to summarise this mess!...
Reggie's having all the rust and rot ground back and treated. The scuttle has to stay as it is for now, and the front panel is staying in place, but will have the rust taken back. Reggie will be sprayed up, as he was before and will hopefully come out looking as good as new!
Hopefully the rust will stay at bay for a fair time to come though, but I would be happier knowing that he's got a full metal scuttle, and in time, he will get a new front panel.... (But I won't be doing any more work on the front, unless it comes back and if it does, I will only replace it when it gets bad enough to warrant disturbing the relatively new paintwork!)
I hope this makes some kind of sense!
Don't worry if it doesn't - We've gone round in circles with it, too!
