hmmm, theres loads of movement in between the two pieces.

its leaking a little, not very much... but at the front of the y piece, the two that join seem to both move just on tick-over :o

is that normal?

The clasps won't go any tighter :dozing:

I made it to the interview, yep! and got an unconditional offer of a place!! :dozing: :sneaky:

I'm confuzzled - why do you now have two looms to do the same job?

the y piece to manifold...

where the y piece links to the 2 pipes, lol :o don't know techy jargon! :dozing: :sneaky:

Graeme... apparently i don't need one of them, now

I thought I had to use that one to connect it to the centre clocks... as a mod to the existing wiring.... but apparently i can just modify what's on there now :dozing:

i wonder why its done that.

isnt there a bracket by there somwhere? i wonder if the bracket has undone a bit and is letting it move.

all the brackets are done up tight... but the vibrations are making them move.... which means its not secure in the manifold/y piece join...

which means this could happen again! :sneaky:

i've tried tightening the 2 clasps that are on the end of the y piece... but they won't go any tighter

and now my hands hurt :o

yeah - but for me!

I'm such a clean freak when it comes to the car! Normally when the slightest bit of dirt gets on him, I wash it off straight away...

But now - he's just utterly filthy, lol :o

Ah well - I've just whacked some of that Holts sealant stuff on the exhaust now :sneaky:

I'll take it off again in a few days, but I need him for tomorrow, so this will do for today and tomorrow.

Well, my paranoia has got the better of me ... :errr:

I'm going to attempt to get rid of Reggie's only rust patch! :(

Posted Image

On the O/S front panel, just below the bumper... I think the paint cracked and so water has got in behind the paint and has started eating away at my wubly Reggie! ^_^

(Admittedly, it's a VERY small line of surface rust, and nothing major at all! :P ..... under an inch long :P )

But I'm worried about the crappy weather getting into it and making it worse, so I'm going to sort it out ASAP.

I took Reggie up to a body shop and they said that it would be £75 to do...

But I'm going to attempt it myself!

So, with instructions from Mr Pikey:

its not hard. :P

wire wheel/brush to get rid of all the crud.
treat the rust
run some coarse sandpaper over it
run some filler over the rust if it's pitted up.
sand again.
mask bits you might get paint on. DON'T mask on the panel itself. it'll leave a hard line. Just "feather" it.
primer (and a few inches either side)
rub smooth with some fine sandpaper
paint. about 5 light coats should do it. And again, feather the panel.
leave it a couple of days to fully harden (you can use the car in that time)
wash
using LOTS of soapy water, take some light wet and dry and just smooth it out
polish and wax

easy! ;)

I will be going to get some primer tomowwow, along with a range of sandpapers! And I should have enough paint left in the can to spray it up... but I'll double check that and if not, I'll get some more! :ermm:

Wish me luck! :dontgetit:
