what happens if you buy a mini outside of switzerland that has passed a sva and is new registered ? can you drive /mot then? or does every car have to be factory spec? as there was a fella who built a rwd z car mini and had it registered as a 2008 car so it would be classed as facory spec

the problem is that they know Minis well, if you turn up with an R1 in the front or back they will just laugh. saying that, I could have it type approved which would cost me around 5k plus one or two minis ( to smash up.) if it passed all the tests I would have the right to sell minis modded to that type.
so importing a mini like thats not going to work.

I have the Promotive front subframe so the oil filter sits on the Righthand side when looking from the front. the oil cooler should fit to the left of the engine.

well I have been doing work to the project, one of which was to lose weight, I have the shell down to 115kg. i am going to double check that weight when i have finished.
I also have an idea for the chain tension system :)

Deseaming!!
Posted Image

before it all begins the outer seam, this should not be cut until you have cleaned all the seam seal off the inside.

Posted Image

I then cut 4.5 cm wide metal strips and spotwelded the over the inner joint.

Posted Image

once thats done you can cut the outer seam away and weld closed, I dressed the joint first.

Fitting MK 1 lights, I cut the old inner frame out to make the panel flex a bit this helped me fit the panel that holds the MK1 Lights
