ask a silly one then as your fityting the R1 motor how does that stand with i e insurance and dvla do you need a sva or not as its still 1000cc

Nice Idea with the front de-seaming!!
I've never thought of removing the inner pillars to weld there!!
(you could also add some reinforcing plates in there as well?)

mike is in switzerland - different bucket of monkeys entirely, and their rules and regs make SVA test look tame !

its been awhile, I have removed the subframe so that I can work on the back or front of the engine better, I have a few mods in production with an aim to give the bearings more life, fitted the exhaust which was cleaned up inside first.

I really like your build :) First I wanted to get an R1 engine as well, but restrictions here in Austria are just as strict so it's almost impossible to get a conversion like that approved. I'll be studying in Switzerland beginning this fall, maybe I'll see your Mini once, who knows ;)

I have gone in a diffrent direction still building the R1 but in a better more sexy mini.
