048r are better in wet that 539's esp on 13's

048r's for the win

Hmmm, I might have to investigate this on the Polo. I've always thought the 539's are pretty good in the wet, and when they do let go pretty progressive on grip (Mk3 Polo's are pretty light on the back end anyway so they suffer from quite bad lift-off oversteer in the wet).

When the summer comes I might invest in a set of A048R's in 175/50R13 and see how I get on!

by the way yoko produce their "race compound tyres" from feb to october as this is there peak season.

prices on shipping increase drastically outside of these dates which is why we dont see them

Does this include the 032s?

Yes, the A032R is classed as race compound as far as I'm aware.

Oh, does anyone know if the A032R is available in anything other than 'S' in 165/70x10? I know they do a 'H' and 'SS' in other sizes, but I'm not sure about 10" tyres...

Pretty sure I read somewhere, maybe even the Yokohama website, that they only do it in "S".

Yeah I thought I'd read it somewhere, just couldn't remember for sure. I think you're right though!

You can't get A539's in 10", but you can get A008's, which IMO are very good. They're a good compromise and they're pretty good on wear as well, I know that Pinch from Dover has had a set for about 15,000 miles or more now and they're still legal, and The Matt has just bought a set for his FReaK as well.

I personally would go for the A008's over A032R's for a daily motor, if only because of the wear factor. I went through a set of A032R's on the front of my car within around 2500 miles, which if I was using it daily would be around 2 months!

But to be fair any FWD car is hard on the front tyres anyway.

So I guess what I'm saying is that its your choice, either tyre is good!

Tom, Demon Tweeks list the A032R as Hard and Soft. However I still think Yoko only produce Soft in the 10" size. Might be worth emailing Yoko - Motorsport division.

I might change from 032s to 008s for daily use when I need new tyres, but the 032s are just so sexy! =] >_<

oh and for the uninitiated no a539's in 10" format!

To add to that, I thought that the A539's had been discontinued and that their replacements were about as good as tyres made from cheese cake.

Or have I heard wrongly?
