Ways Of Mounting Speakers Up Front...

I'v bought some minitrailers door pocket/speaker pods from tomf on the forum but to be honest i won't be all that happy about fitting them. The qualitys good on them and all but they're just abit bulky and get in the way of the door winder abit.
So i'm thinking of other ways to mount speakers up front. I don't like the look of the custom consoles pods they look huge and look like they reduce leg room quite alot. I've not got a dashboard to put them in and want to keep my air vents.
So what sort of speaker pods can i make? What have other people done? Theres space under the dash rail for mounting them but if i make my own pods would the speakers need to be enclosed?
I was thinking about using these Link then putting them somewhere on the inner arch or something?
What else can i do?

but again a pod in the wheel arch takes away leg room getting in and out
Nay, there were no pods - just the speaker unit in the arch. Not quite sure how he did it.

I guess they could work with a bit of modification, so they followed the shape of the arch.
