Windscreen fillet????

you slip the tip of the tool into the groove and turn it so that it pulls the lips apart, feed the fillet into the hole in the end of the tool which keeps the hole open enough to keep slipping the length in.. lubricant helps (fairy liquid and water in a spray bottle will do) then you can drag the tool all the way around the groove. i find it easier with another pair of hands to help.

Ive tried with those tools before, and like you Big Adam, ended up throwing the tool as far as i could.

in the end i just use a washing line peg, split in half, half to open the rubber other bit to push the strip in. Oh and dont use washing up liquid, way to much salt in it, which you dont want around that scuttle, plus it lets the strip slip back out. just a little spray of plusgas will do it. ( sorry BigGav )

Are the roller type any good? I've only ever used the diamond shaped lip splitter :)

These are brilliant and dead easy to use.

It takes about 10 seconds to get it done together with some wash up liquid.

Just a thought while were on the subject because I’ll be fitting a new rubber soon (I hope) I have an 1983 City E but I bought a new rubber for the later model as it is supposed to be wider and prevent any issues of rain getting in does anyone know if it is ok to fit the later windscreen rubber to an 83 model?
