Don't quote me on the adjustable drivers seat thing, I thought it was one of those recent changes to the MOT, but I could be wrong.

OK found it, it's in the 2012 MOT changes:

"Method of Inspection:

"Check that the drivers seat position can be adjusted forwards and backwards, and secured in the selected positions

Reason For Failure:

"The drivers seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism not securing as intended"

Now I'm not sure how that would apply to a seat that's specifically designed not to be adjustable. I guess you could argue that in your case it can be secured in the selected position (i.e. the one it's fixed in) and that it does secure as intended, because it's intended for it to be in a permanently fixed position.

Like most of the 'problems' I'm possibly going to encounter I think I'll adopt the age old 'head in sand' policy and worry about it if happens.....

(Although I didn't just type that, it was an intruder- and I can't figure out how to delete it ;D )

Well, I can certainly claim that my seat adjustment mechanism is securing as intended, as it's bolted to FIA approved seat rails! Hopefully if they're trying to pick up on loose seats a bolted in one should be fine. Otherwise it'll be a case of dropping a different seat in for the MOT, which would be a pain.

Yeah if your MOT man isn't bothered/hasn't noticed, then I probably wouldn't worry about it too much. The regs seem to be designed to pick up on faulty and potentially unsafe seat adjusting mechanisms that wont lock into position. Let's face it, a permanently fixed seat isn't really a safety issue, so long as you can reach the pedals from it.

you need to get yourself a mini wildgoose camper.  I saw one for the first time at a local classic car show this summer. theres a few pics on here if you've not seen one beforehttp://www.theminifo...mini-campervan/

They are cool.....

I was doing something simlar to a minivan a few years... Made all the cupboards, bed,  cooker etc....

THEN FLIPPED THE VAN OVER A HEDGE :shy:  O_O

Took the drivers door clean off and totalled the whole front end (my only accident to date)

Closed my eyes as it went over and opened them after clearing the hedge and landing 6 foot down in a field of sheep :bah:

Escaped with the tiniest of cuts on my finger and a bruised knee fron the steering column.....

Funny really, the van was never the same afterwards >_<

I can reach the pedals, just not any of the switches on the dash once the harness is done, or the choke either which I have to push in with my foot :)

This is something that is currently crossing my mind. I’ve recently converted a Vauxhall combo, so small in the van world but obviously still huge in comparison. Wondering if you have any pics of plans or the cupboards you made?

I am in my mid fifties and creaky around the corners. Sleeping in a Mini - no. Sleeping in a tent - triple no (back like a bag of rice crispies in the morning). I have a hammock setup. Whole thing including sleeping bag and under blanket fits into a small rucksack. Tarp takes five minutes to set up (and everything after that is in the dry) and wake up like I slept in my mother’s arms. Camping? Love to come! Only if there are trees to run ropes off however.
If you haven’t tried it I recommend it.
Current daily driver is a Skoda Superb estate though - I think I could get a pocket sprung mattress in the load bay and with tinted rear windows entertain a couple of ladies of negotiable affection in comfort.
