Looks great Tuk Tuk!

Can I ask what those cuts are for at the bottom of the front wheel arches?

it is cut and flared outwards so the wider 6" wheels dont catch. It will get folded abit and tidied up before the arches are fitted.

Just read this thread from start to finish and i have to say i'm very very impressed with both the speed and skill displayed in this rebuild.

I dont have a mini yet but am starting to think a cheap resto might be better than a near perfect running car... i only hope i can get mine somewhere near this sort of standard.

Excellent work guys !

oh my god what a day ! all stressed thismorning as we couldnt get a spark at the plugs... had to be wiring as all other ignition parts are new. found the problem and we were ready to see if he would fire up ! at this point my heart was pounding with exitement.

turned over a couple times and with a massive growl, the thing started ;) started checking timing and messing with the fueling ect trying to get it to idle a little. All was good, revving up nicely and sounded amazing ! then all of a sudden it stopped, and water started flooding out of the radiator. trying to start it again and it was just backfiring through the carb, at this point i was shiting myself :dontgetit: messed with dizzy and fueling but still backfiring...

took off the rocker cover, and found this had happened

:xxx:

how the chuff !!

anyways, we replaced the rocker(luckily it was the first one) and reset the clearances at 15thou.by this time i was in a bit of a panick, and all i could think of is that a piston had smashed into the valve, which everyone at the club found funny  :D

anyways

all seems fine, will be going to local mini tuners for new needle and check timing, fueling and clearances ect
