miniman86 expect a letter from Havering Council soon. If you have a look in the Romford Recorder you'll probably find a story from someone complaining about the Smartcar. There's been at least one story a week for the last 6 months as Havering council are on the offensive and in last weeks issue I think they said that the council have raised something like £1.6m in parking fines since the car were introduced last year.

Havering are well skint and must be getting desperate, I've noticed that they've put pay and display machines along Crow Lane by the cemetery, there will soon be no free parking left in the area.

A Kirk i know how you feel at my previous company when we were on delivereies, our premises are situated on a main road in town and most of our sofa's come out of the front door as we get them in and deliver them the same day many a times during the winter months we would close the doors on the van to keep the sofa's dry and we would get a ticket, was told by a nice traffic warden (after we stopped some kids from harrasing him) if we left the doors open whilst parked on the double yellow's we would have 20mins loading/unloading time and wouldnt get a ticket.

We even got a ticket once after our van was blocked in a parking bay and couldnt find the owner of the car blocking us even tho we were in the van with engine running, the owner of the car didnt get a ticket cause he hadnt been there for over 20 mins .

If you are in a pay and display area, heres some tips, if you are parked in a bay you are allowed upto 6 mins over your ticket time to get back to your car, if you have a ticket before the 6 mins are up you can appeal agaisnt it. Its the same for parking on a road in pay and display area but only a 3 minute so keep your tickets if this happens to you as evidence

Well I had a hassle free day lol mind you I didn't go into London, I spent the day going into storage yards, and drinking coffee.

The pay and display thing should be 10 mins, but it might vary depending on borough, not that I can get y truck into a single space lol.

No probs. I live in Dagenham but was dragged up in Gidea Park where my dad still lives and I pop in most weeks and he always buys the recorder. Me and the misses are hoping to move to Hornchurch soon, but finding an affordable property that has already got or has room for building a big enough garage for my Mini, motor bike and tools is a bit of a problem.

oh right i see! well i still havent had anything from the parking ticket, so fingers crossed!!
