I'm sure if the police saw your plates covered they'd knick you for that and the dodgy parking.

exactly! More trouble than its worth, not to mention illegal! Not really a good Idea to post that sort of idea on a public forum as 'advice'.

Yeah, a good dollop of mud or cow poo works much better, easier to claim you know nowt about it

Did you know its only a £30 fine for no number plates or covered plates? Compared to a parking fine which is £120 within central London?

Don't mind me I HATE traffic wardens, whilst I agree they also have a job to do, but so many of them have no common sense.

I think the best one is having to block a busy road off to unload, as your not allowed to put any wheels on the pavement, now commons sense would say ok let the delivery drive put 2 wheels on the pavement(allowing access for people) and allowing the road to move freely, but no we can't do that. So what happens you block the road off, because you know the police and the traffic wardens won't bother you.

Since parking has become so bad within the likes of London, I've had to inform all clients that unless they can provide somewhere legal to load/unload then they either won't be sent a van or they are responsible for any parking tickets.

Don't worry about offending me, I don't take offence to anything, as we all have our own views

How boring I was really looking forward to a good arguement, I had all my toys ready to throw out of my pram and everything.

Your such a spoil sport lol

If anyone passes any of the Eastend Markets have a look at all the vans parked along the side of the road, everyone will have its plates obstructed by something or another, its quite a strange thing to see

Oh well I guess I should go get van ready to enter North London again

London is great when your not driving/working, but I'm there at least 2 or 3 times a week and hate the place, mind you the London night run semoc did a few years ago was great, a night run through town lol

Now for some sensible parking ticket advise :

Appeal against every single ticket, its always worth it, as you have nothing to loose, and can only gain from it. There are some sites out there with template letters on to help you.

Bang on mucky plate £30 however if the reason behind the mucky plates becomes apparent you looking at time in a cell for perverting the course of justice!!! Clean car + Mucky plates = something dodgy def get a pull!

Also most coppers are not interested in traffic process (giving tickets etc) however if someone has mucky plates they may be hiding the identity of the vehicle which could mean they have something to hide which would def lead to being pulled!!!

last one I pulled for mucky plates was noting more that a Chav Corsa and reckoned that mucky plates would stop our ANPR from reading the plates, it doesent so gave him a handy wipe instead of a ticket and he quite happily cleaned the plates...one happy not so bad chav customer.

Cheers

BM.

I went up there just before xmas, the atmosphere was lovely, I wasnt working, so yea, really enjoyed it

At my old work we had to pay for parking but we couldnt do a full day ticket. We had to go out and keep getting another ticket. We would py about £4 on parking everyday (baring in mind I was only getting £4.60 an hour for a part time job), it all added up. The silly thing was, we couldnt get a full day ticket, so we would have to keep getting cover off our shift to change the ticket. Now being a very busy company, this was not always possible. Many times I was looking after about 15-20 children on my own and had to change the car park ticket but obviously couldnt leave the kids, but couldnt get cover either. Had to risk it! Was so silly, and luckily i never got a ticket but a number of my work mates did. They sometimes didnt have to pay if the manager wrote to the council saying it was impossible for us to leave, but sometimes we didnt get let off and they had to pay! x

See my point police are generally use common sense compared to little Hitlers(traffic wardens) who think they are god, and sadly most of them can't understand what your trying to explain to them.

Oh well life continues

Nothing wrong with carrying handy wipes I carry them for.......urm........cleaning lights

The whole plate covering up thing happens with motorbikes all the time.. If you chuck a cover over your bike.. And cover over the numberplates.. They can't remove it too give you a ticket.. (and its more legal than just bits of paper )

well i was parked on a single yellow line for about 10 minutes, knowing i couldn't park there but as everyone does at some point, i thought i'll only be quick, it'll be ok! anyway when i came back to my car there is one of them smart cars wiv a huge CCTV camera on the top of it, don't know weather it was facing up the road away from my caar, or down the road towards it, but if i do get a ticket does anyone know around about how much it will be?

Alex

Surprised you had a car that works!
