Looks a really nice project, the black bodywork and wheels are something ive never seen done before on a mini and the paintjob looks good, is it 2k?

Hello peeps

Been a while since i was on here last... still recovering from The Red Hot Chili Pepper Concert... which was really really cool!!!

Today i made my mother very happy by removing my carbon roof from the back room of our house... the plants can now get watered.. :)

I hired a nibbler device from the local Tool hire place and nibbled my mini roof off, which was fun... ;)

Left a 2" lip of the original roof, something to bond the carbon skin too.

[attachment=17855:attachment] [attachment=17856:attachment]

Then used a load of Sikaflex and stuck my carbon roof skin on... took a while to line up but it looks ok now.. going to go round it again tomorrow with the sikaflex and fill in the gaps.

But this is it so far..

I didn't think the roof was so heavy... its only thin but the carbon is so much lighter..

Hope u all like

:proud:

I forgot to say earlier... my front end arrived on thursday..

[attachment=17865:attachment]

the light and grille holes were already cut out for me by curley ;)

[attachment=17866:attachment]

which was nice...

Starting to look like a mini again... after about 2 years :)

Looking nice, love the roof and especially the front end, are you planning on painting the front or doing a paint job to incorporate the weave? only criticism is im not keen on the idea still of cutting out a sheet of metal that makes a solid metal frame and replacing it with a sikaflexed on piece of carbon which shatters on impact

still it looks damn nice, whats next?

Cheers again... It will be like the old one in the sense its black... all the good stuff my old one has been put into this, mainly engine and wheels. everything else is new. :proud:

I got the roof of a mate.. but he got it from Curley... Curley Website ;)

As for cuttin out the metal roof... its no different to puttin a full lenth sunroof in, i have a full cage to put in so it should still be as strong.. if not stronger than standard.

I've used 2 tubes of sikaflex so that roof aint going nowhere!!

Ally doors came from the same guy as the roof, but i think there from The Mini Door Company near Blackpool... but i've seen ally door skins go for about £45 a side.. not sure where tho. :)
