Dont take this the wrong way but your welding needs more practice. You have poor penertration and over have of the weld is not connected to the other half.
Also, grinding it back to look good removes alot of the strength.
Best thing to do is get some off cuts of steel and practice on them first.

I agree. You've picked quite a hard place to start to weld it. I started with some scrap. Didn't take me long to get OK, then it's just a case of practice. I'm not great, but I'm getting better every time i do some.
