Well that was a surprise. Sir D had a loose tensioner pulley, found it leaning out with a very loose nut. Very luckly I didnt loose both, possibly the most expensive plastic wheel going.. Not to mention the proprietary nut >.< . One shredded thumb knuckle later and a lot of swearing at the tensioner bolt, we have a squeaky free belt.

We press on!

Good you caught that though, could caused a bit of havoc if it let go!

Hmm 1 forward and another back it seems. Further to the rattling problems, possibly related - there's a slow but steady oil leak coming from the bottom of the bell housing. Vipernoir, upon overviewing the problem supects it's the primary gear oil seal but can't be certain of anything at the moment. Interesting that this one was non existant until the last break in run on Thusday, 200 miles from break-in start.

Presents arrived today, got the 12v cigarette/charger point, long overdue for the TomTom/Phone charging. Also a Smiffys' smorgasbord for detailing, including a bonnet catch and HT lead clamps.

Will probably have a test fit tonight to see what they all look like, then find suitable locations for the more permanent stickers.

Ooh Smiffy Bits. I am a fan! I've bought some of their stainless 'covers' for engine bay parts, but when its all apart again I might take it back to original with some of their replacement tags. They do look smart when they are all fresh, and most cars have lost them by now.

I've got a 12v socket hidden under the dash, it's a good addition

Exactly what I had in mind. Is yours to the left of the steering wheel - where the steering column passes under the dash rail, or somewhere else?

I'd be interested to know how you are going to wire the cigarette lighter into the car.

Initially I was considering taking from the CD player feed, but I'm not sure if this would be able to provide enough amps on the wire. Where did you wire in from James?

I'm also going to leave the lamp out as the charger will be hidden anyway and will only complicate wiring.

I put mini to the left of the heater. http://www.flickr.co...mes/6840859709/

I thought it was already busy enough over on the drivers side, and I didn't want to potentially have cables to drooping by the pedals. I made this bracket from an old PC case with the intention of remaking it in stainless once I was happy, but it's been there a few years now!

Mine is wired from the CD player, inline fuse, to an earth I added next to the bracket. It handles a Tom Tom fine, but it depends on the draw of your devices I suppose.

Hey Oli, to remove the IACV for cleaning, is it the torx you can get to from above, or from the side?

Thanks

Just be very careful - the torx screws on the top take *maybe* a turn and a half to remove, and there's an ultra thin washeras well. Best to remove any and all obstructions before attempting (relay, filter box, get the loom tucked away if necessary).

Thank you Oli and Liam. It's all been apart and back together now. A magnetic torx screwdriver made the top ones easy, but those 4 side ones are awkward!

How's SirD running now then Oli?

SirD is not too bad at the moment :)

Took him out for a 20-mile run over the weekend as the weather was something other than water-based, the idle is still a little grumbly - I really need to pencil in a sensor plug in and diagnostic check. May well look at the breather hoses myself just to check, but since this is still very early miles in breaking in it could be anything. Changed the oil and filter out too. There's still a lot of impurities and crap being rinsed through the engine - oil was as black as you like. Noticed there's a brown tide-mark appearing in the expansion tank as well. In the next couple of hundred miles I think I'll be flushing the coolant system through.

Other than that there's a few electrical additions to be put in next month including the cigarette charger and looking into the possibility of an external air temp kit. Something else as well but still researching into feasability and the best solution. Late March should see the engine out, giving a good time for a second break in and checking all the gaskets have sealed properly.

Wow, the paint looks amazing in that photo! A diagnostic check is a good idea, it's quite cheap and at worst will give you the comfort of mind that all is well with the electrics.

External air temp sounds interesting. I'll look forward to seeing that come about if you proceed with it.
